  1. The scatter rap Is awesome ! I've caught 30+ bass on them alone this summer. And some really nice ones on the scatter rap shad. In yellow perch. One being around 5 pounds and 20inches. The lure I'm most disappointed in is the river to sea "clackin crayfish" for 13 dollars it's total garbage. Doesn't hardly land right side up no matter what knot or line you are using. . Ohh and the KVD red pliers. Everything with his name on it is supposed to be "KVD approved " the spring popped out the first time using it and now it doesn't hardly want to open. Because of this I've avoided anything that says KVD on it. You might think I'm missing out. But I catch bass all day long without anything from strike King .
  2. The scatter rap shallow is an awesome bait. Ive had great times with the blue back Herring and the "smash". Also , above all, the scatter rap shad has landed me some seriously nice bass. The Helsinki shad and the yellow perch is my favorite. It does do circles if you "burn it". The key is to retrieve slowly and then throw a couple quick reels in to get the bait to kick out to the side or "scatter". I was weary at first. But I am Sold. I have many cranks. Bomber , rebel, live target, lucky craft, storm, but the rapala is my favorite. From the original floating / countdown. To the jointed and jointed shad. Especially the xraps. Rapala just makes lures that catch fish period. It's a fun alternative to the plastic craze. And the scatter rap is another winner in my book.
  3. In Michigan , a mepps #5. Preferably a silver colored blade.
  4. Caught my PB in ohio. A little over 8 pounds and 23 inches long . Out of a 3 acre farm pond.
  5. I own a small set of live target lures. Have had more success using the hard baits over their hollow body / top water. I have the frog, mouse, and now the sunfish. I fished the sunfish one evening and it took me about 2 casts to get it to move how I wanted it to. I had one nice bass follow it all the way from the middle of the pond and slurp it very slowly in the shallows. It was a heavy fish . I thought I had a good hook set as I felt the full weight of her pull against me. But , she shook the hook. And that was the only time I had action on the bait. Overall 3/5
  6. I'm not Sure why everyone gets so upset over fishing techniques. My PB came on a top water popper. But I have caught numerous beauties fishing with live bluegill. I would hook them through the lip, and out the nostril. Usually the bluegill is very lively and ends up running into the weeds and getting buried there. So I would have to check it periodically. If a big bass is around , she cannot resist. Especially if it is in a pond and this is her main forage. I've caught bass when the bluegill was practically dead. Just reeling it In . Make sure the bluegill is of appropriate size. If you choose to use a 4 to 5 inch bluegill you're only targeting bass about 5 pounds and up. People say it's not fun using live bait, but it's surely fun catching the big bass. And taking pictures with your friends or kids. Not to mention occasionally catching some nice catfish.
  7. If the water is moderately deep (6-12ft) I would try some crank baits. Ive caught many nice bass on a rapala shad rap, and jointed shad rap. Also bomber model A is almost impossible to beat for the price.. plastics , other than the previously mentioned jigs. You could try a double tail hula grub , weightless or t-rigged . Or the good old ribbon tail worm t rigged . (I like culprit , red shad or tequila ) that will offer a different presentation than the senkos you've been throwing. And they Can be worked many ways
