  1. Also the clicking of the weight sliding to the top of the hook helps the bass locate the worm. You can even use a bead in-between the weight and hook to enhance that effect. The same bead used with the Carolina rig
  2. Are you using braid ? Braid typically will slice through the "grass" when you give it a hard rip... when the lure gets buried I just rip the bait up hard and then give just a little bit of slack.. most of the stuff falls right off.. this works best (for me) with lipless cranks..
  3. Ya know. The first time I watched McGregor fight.. I was rooting for him. Had no idea who he was.. they met in the middle.. Went back to their corners... came to the middle of the ring and the opponent came to the middle with his hand up for McGregor to touch (like a sign of respect.. let's put on a show type of deal) well McGregor touched his hand , and as soon as it touched instantly followed with a spinning back kick.. I thought it was dirty and cowardly. Definitely not someone I'd look up to. Yea im sure he'd beat me up. I'm not saying he's not tough. What I'm saying is the first time I seen him fight he made a really dirty move. And who appreciates that ? Not me.. never been a fan of him since.
  4. That's why there is an option for a prenuptial agreement. Lol. I have a child out of wedlock.. but me and the mother are still together. We aren't married yet. I see it in our future. But i am a little timid, fearing she will change like "she has me now" .. also I don't want to end up divorced. I think she's great.. but other than for tax and insurance breaks.. I dont see the rush. Everyone is different . But I can be committed to someone without marriage.
  5. The difference is size. A cove is often referred to as a bay.. a cove is typically a circular inlet with a slim entrance.
  6. "plunk my line Down, no casting " .. sounds like you need a cane pole to me..
  7. Fish under the surface... jigs and weedless lures. Or cast the cranks into the pockets while using braid. Or you could frog em
  8. I have good luck with the green pumpkin jigs.. BTW Kentucky is awesome. Love it there.
  9. Before WRB even replies. A 15lb largemouth is very impressive and bass anglers (in the north) would trade alot of things for even a 10lb largemouth. He gave his reasons for why he believes spinning reels are not as effective in some applications. Me and many others obviously disagree. But that's ok ! Everyone here has their own opinion.. take them for what it's worth. I disagreed with his post as well. But didn't come at him personally. I don't see why you couldn't just chime in about your success with spinning tackle and leave the bashing out of it. It's childish. And unnecessary. I was enjoying this thread.. and if it escalates further it's going to be on lock. LAME
  10. Ha-ha agreed. How much for the lot
  11. Bout 45 mins north of Cincinnati. 15 miles from Kings island.
  12. Yea bank beater has a point.. is it a public pond ? Or a private farm pond.. cuz there is a huge difference. For some reason I've lucked up enough to not have to fish over pressured public ponds.. I have access to several ponds out here in "ohi-a" . And occasionally get to put my jon boat in small lakes when time allows. Out of the three ponds I fish regularly I honestly can't remember the last time I got skunked. With the list of lures I gave you. Even at the lakes I go, I more often than not catch bass.. without any electronics but a trolling motor. I truly believe once you have the "feel" for any of your favorite lures/techniques you are at much better odds of catching fish. Fall is a great time.. as to when it's "fall" ... well that's regional... technically fall starts September 22nd. And here in ohio, and back home in Michigan.. it won't be long before the snow.. I will be hitting it hard from now until late November.. but I hit it hard spring through fall anyway. I always hear "it's too hot for the fish to bite". Noooooooo.. it's too hot for YOU to stand out there and cast. My biggest bass are usually caught in summer for some reason. But the action is always better this time of year and In spring IMO.
  13. ^ Probably cuz its got slammed by a pike, walleye, musky or largemouth . Or possibly a heron , hawk or eagle . We aren't the only ones who love perch lol
  14. I like the way the shad and golden shiner ones look.
  15. Try a soft plastic frog like the rage toad. My hookup ratio is always better with this style than it is with the hollow body.
  16. I'm late to the conversation. But my grandpa had a German shorthair . And it was the best bird dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She would point a bird for at least 2-3 minutes . Which absolutely blew my mind because when we wernt hunting, she was a total spaz. It was fun. She was the workhorse. Shed hunt em up, point em, Wed blast em and shed go get them and bring em back to us. I'll never forget how the warm bodies of those birds felt against my back when I put them in my vest. Good memories.
  17. Are we still talking about how to catch bluegill lol.. anything on a hook. They can fit in their mouths, they will eat. The perch techniques are a ittle more interesting IMO
  18. An abundance of food may take a toll on your catch rate. When bass get keyed in on certain bait images they can be hard to catch even if you're doing your best to imitate the certain bait fish. These are the lures I ALWAYS try before I decide I'm skunked. -Weightless stick worm -texas rigged ribbon tail worm and craw imitator (rage craw or hula grub) -Rapala #7shad rap (I like the perch color. Or original silver) -bomber model A -jig (always with trailer ) -popper/walking bait -lipless crank - and lastly a spinner bait . Usually an inline spinner just hoping to get a bite from something . I'll spend time with each technique. Not give up in 10 minutes. I've caught bass on all these lures consistently so I'm confident in each one .
  19. . Well @WRB that makes sense. And something I didn't really consider. I almost always use braid . I like the strength, casting ability , and sensitivity . And almost always use 15lb-20lb test because of a big one that broke me off at the boat using much smaller lb test. So the things you described being needed to be done if you chose to use spinning reels with cranks , I already do.. and have done for years. Unknowingly.
  20. Way cool ! She knows where the food is. Lol
  21. Umm I catch fish on all those lures using spinning tackle ? I only have one bait caster and almost exclusively use spinning tackle. I catch fish on cranks all day using it.. I don't see how using spinning tackle eliminates the OP's suggestions. It clearly does not. I use all of those baits on spinning tackle with success on a regular basis. I think the most Important "beginner's lure" not mentioned is the IN LINE spinner. Like a mepps. I've caught more species on that lure than any other . Nothing even comes close.
  22. Did it get released again ?
  23. Yea man that is crazy. I love that worm too. Lol. That's some pretty crazy news.. how big is the body of water that it was caught in ? I actually read your article awhile ago.. and I think i remember reading your dad caught a ten pounder earlier this year out of the same body.. I'm willing to guess it might be on its last leg ? There was a big bass a couple years ago I hooked 4 separate times... the next spring she was no where to be found. Hopefully that's not the case.. but. Just an observation
  24. BA profile pic too. Is that an effect on your phone or a drawing or what. ??!
