I thought this exactly. ! Ha-ha. I've caught crappie that could take that thing down no problem.
I wish I could buy them that size. I'd dump in my grand mother's pond every so often and let the bass go to town on em.
I see that and mecum on tv all the time. For our country being in such turmoil.. there sure seems to be a good number of folks with a surplus of spending limits. Must be nice.
You'd vary your weight of the jig head depending on how fast you want your grub to fall. Don't limit yourself to using just one weight jighead for your grubs. Sometimes 1/16oz can make the difference in 1 or 5 fish days .
I try and stay away from pegged weights unless I'm fishing some really dense stuff.. it gives the fish a little more leverage and is easier to shake than a standard sliding bullet head.
I suggest you try braid. I'm going to assume you're fishing from shore, a decent braid will add casting distance, and you dont have to worry about "line twist" with braid on a spinning reel like you do with mono or floro. Also braid is much more sensitive and it'll be easier for you to detect bites . The no stretch threads it's made out of will result in a quick hook up.
Typically for bass ?? The little Miami is just a branch.. in my area if I go at the right times I can catch white bass and Sauger. And supposedly musky. I have a buddy who only fishes for catfish and he's landed some big ones out of the Ohio.
Yea . I got skunked. In my BA bass boat with all my electronics. And my rod locker full of rods with enough baits and terminal tackle to fill up 2 backpacks. (And Odds are the owner has fishing experience) he likes fishing for a reason and it's not because he gets skunked. , I rarely believe people when they tell me they got skunked. I dont get Skunked that often and I have no electronics and only like 3 rods. No electronics. just a jon boat with 2 swivel seats.
Tell em how you really feel. You don't have to lie. If you didn't get skunked , and you are approached "catching any? " Just be short and be honest. Tell them what you think truly. If they are digging through your stuff they are obviously thieves or creeps. And either way need some attention in a negative way.
Ha-ha agreed man ! I have 2 of those. And one of the picture I posted. Also 2 of their fastback box cutters. Big fan for sure. I'd run all Milwaukee tools if I could afford it lol
I've never bought any color of the hula grubs that didn't catch fish. I bet I've caught fish on 8 or 9+ colors. On everyone I've ever tried. This goes the same for the senkos.
The rage rig is any of the rage baits on a keel weighted hook. I think your set up will do just fine. I have one set up the exact way and do great with it. Sometimes I don't even use the FC leader . Why are you using a leader ? Because it sinks ? If it's for the visibility reason it's a bunch of malarkey. Bass hit thick wire spinner baits and wacky rigged worms using a 3/0 ewg. Alabama rigs.. the list goes on and on. But if you're using it for some depth I can understand. Otherwise I use straight braid on a spinning reel with success on a regular basis.
What bait are you rage rigging ? I'm going to assume the craw. I'd try the space monkey and menace also.
Yea none of the cabelas I've been to sales associates really impress me... I'm not saying people deserve to lose their job.. but it won't affect my shopping because they don't help me anyway. Last cabelas I went in to I asked for some screw in bullet weights , the guy (in the fishing department) said he's never seen those... they didn't have them. Ok. I let that slide. Next I was looking for a shallow xrap shad. He took me to the rapalas and said its in there somewhere. Well. I found the xraps. But no shallow shad ... this model has been out for awhile and may not be a great seller so I understand if its not in stock.. still bummed me out. Next I asked him if he could show me where the strike king rage tail baits are.. literally all they had was the anaconda and cut'r worm. For the worlds foremost outfitter I left pretty disappointed. This was at the west Chester , ohio cabelas FWIW. Maybe bass pro will get someone in there who is more interested in fishing and not just a yay or nay type of employee .
Any gycb baits that youd recommend OTHER than the senko, ika, or double tail hula grub . ? I've also tried the swim senko. I've done well with all of these . I was eyeing a pack of his craws. And was just wondering if you use any of his other baits ?
Pike and musky are one of the most impressive freshwater predators in the world IMO. And holding something that runs the underwater world that we all love so much is an awesome experience for me. Even if they do crunch my 8 dollar crank .
Color is less important in every bait ! I've never bought a pack of senkos that didn't catch fish. Orange, white, dark green, chartreuse, root beer, purple, red w/ bright red flake, bubblegum, black , and all of the laminates and flake colors in between .
