  1. You're right I've never seen it.. I'd love to check it out . What channel does it come on? I agree that river monsters really doesn't specify on how he catches them... a little .. but not really. WHAT I THINK IS COOL IS ALL OF THE SPECIES HE GETS TO CATCH. Alright Mr dahlberg is more informational. And more successful financially? I could care less how many sponsors someone has or how they got where they did. The only way it would be better (to me) is if he caught ALL of the species that wade has been recorded catching and showed how he did so.
  2. I've seen him catch electric eel, piranha , sting ray, arapaima, tiger fish, lamprey, musky, sturgeon, and a few others that I can picture but can't name.. yes, alot of them have been catfish but that's because there are so many different unique species of catfish that inhabit the rivers around the world. and all of them were awesome ? Lol . So i don't know how it's a bad thing. He can only catch what exists.. The point of the thread was to asked who likes the show ? I don't know why we start talking about someone else .

    Tubes

Tubes are awesome. And are known to be deadly on small mouth. But I assure you they work just as well on largemouth. About 5 years ago when I lived in michigan, me and a buddy did real well with some Strike king coffee tubes. I've gotten away from tubes.. probably a mistake.
  4. I'd try a small jig. And the swing impact with the nail weights. I second the 4" senko. And the fat ika is worth a mention. The other day I had success on a bomber 4a In chartreuse with a rip and pause retrieve
  5. Welcome to bass resource. Almost everything you've ever wondered about fishing has been discussed. Unless its unorthodox or new. Try using the search bar for your questions. I took the time to do it for you. Good luck.
  6. I like to collect some.. I have the regulars that have earned their way into the tackle box.. I buy extras of styles that worked.. and rotate them in as the others get lost or retired.
  7. Ha-ha lame !!! I could care less about the size of a dudes "cajones". Whats cool is all the different species he gets to catch all around the world...
  8. I don't really follow the press. The value of an American dollar is practically garbage. When someone can go to work full time (regardless of what it is) and not be able to afford everything they NEED . It's a sign our country is not in its greatest shape. When I have to wake up and worry about how I'm going to pay for this and that.. even though I bust my back every day. It's not really convincing for you to tell me that our country isn't so bad. Now I understand I'm not living in a mud hut and that I had something to eat today. There are alot of things I'm grateful for..
  9. I'd try something along these lines.. a small SK spinnerbait. "Pond magic" I believe is what they call it Im not positive. And this really small x-rap. They are hard to find. I got this one at field and stream. It's worth whatever I paid for it. 7 bucks I think .
  10. It depends where you're fishing ? A little more info is needed. For instance, is it a pond ? Or a big lake ? If it's a pond you'll be able to catch em until the ice keeps you from fishing. (Unless you can go on the ice ) a big lake is different though. Maybe you can still catch a few at the mouth of creeks . And maybe come across a straggler. But for the most part probably SOL.
  11. I feel like he has been a bit of a loner most of his life.. he never has mentioned one word about family (that I've seen) . Have you seen the deadly encounters ? Where he talks about a plane crash and getting malaria amongst other things..
  12. I go in spurts.. if something gets hot for me I stock up on it.. and of course it dies off.. but I've found them to pick up again in the seasons to come.. this is why I have a huge selection (for a part time fisher / young father) of hard baits . And soft plastics to rival it . For some reason I think I need it all. I haven't went crazy on reels. I'd like something nice one day buy i have different priorities. I make do with rod and reel combos under 75$.
  13. The grub didn't even hit the bottom..
  14. This is the biggest one I've ever caught. These 2 pictures are the only ones I have of bluegill. Lol. Not usually picture worthy IMO.. but this one was HUGE. I caught it on a "crappie magnet" 1.5" split tail grub paired with a matching jighead.
  15. I've caught crappie on zoom super flukes. And shadlicious swimbaits..
  16. Bluegill amaze me. This one would have been fun on an ultralight. Instead it takes a bomber 4a that I've caught 17" bass on.. wasn't much of a fight with my 10lb test. But. Interesting anyway. I was burning it. Rip and pause. Apparently I crossed it's "territory"
  17. If you can fish a lake.. you can fish a pond.. no problem
  18. Zoom ol monster lol
  19. Yea 5/0 is real big for the menace. I think you'll barely be piercing the end of the bait. Good lure tho. I like it on the swim jig.
  20. It's not always true that you get what you pay for.. ever been to a professional sporting event ? Or amusement park? 15 dollars for a hamburger isn't exactly getting what you paid for.. But, senkos are expensive because they are an original and they work. They will only cost as much as people are willing to pay for them.. if everyone stopped buying them they would drop in price, but nobody is going to do that because they catch fish day after day. Out of every worm I catch at least one fish (could be up to 5 t rigged) . So we will say they cost around 70 cents a piece.. I'm willing to spend that while fishing the limited amount of time I actually get to fish.. knowing if I'm not catching fish that it's not the lure I'm using.. When using the senko (weightless t rigged) just clip off 1/4" and re rig! I've started with a 5" senko and caught fish with it all the way til it was down to under 4" before I grabbed a new one.. and caught 6-7 fish on one senko.. I've had success with the YUM dingers.. it's not that these other brands won't catch fish.. but will they catch them as well ? Even if you run tests it could be a fluke or coincidence.. the dinger was in the right spot/right time.. retrieved just slightly different etc. You want the shimmy of the senko but hate the durability. Well that softness is what gives it the action. That's like you want your pop to be cold but you want no ice in the cup so you have more pop. Let me know how that works out.
  21. That is a weird one !! Not many people could say they fished there ! Ha-ha but I don't know too many that would dare to anyway. My favorites are probably the arapaima, the musky (which I believe he finally catches drop shotting a small minnow) , hell I don't think there was one I didn't like. When he was catching those bull shark in Florida's freshwater ?! Pretty sure it was the biggest male ever recorded In that location. I think he also caught that huge grouper that episode, what an awesome fish.
  22. Anyone else like this show ? I know it's drawn out and somewhat predictable.. but man the opportunities Jeremy wade gets is unbelievable. Alot of risk involved. But he has to have the best job in the world. Travels around the world and catches all of those monster freshwater fish ? Some of those fish are crazy!!! Like the Wels catfish.. some of those could eat you no problem... and the Goliath tiger fish!!!?? They hunt in packs!!?!! Ha-ha. He lives a wild life. I love the show.. haven't seen any new ones in awhile.. I've seen all the episodes... twice.
  23. I was catching bass yesterday with a bomber 4a. And I was ripping it fast. With a stop n go retrieve. I tried for almost 2 hours with soft plastic "finesse" tactics with nothing to show for it. Even though that's been my most productive practice since spring.
  24. I'm forced to use needle nose with the gills. Usually whenever I fish for those I'm going to use them for catfish bait anyway.
