  1. They don't have to be Asian carp to jump !! I've honestly never seen a bass jump clear out of the water unless it was hooked... I've seen explosive strikes but never full on leap out of the water.. it's just odd for you to say you see it over and over.. It wasn't just him saying it... It was nearly everyone who replied... But who knows.. crazier things have happened than bass jumping out of the water.
  2. As someone who is from Michigan. And spent most of my life there... This is sickening. Just like alot of the invaders.. I hope they figure out something..
  3. No pics ?? At least tell me more about how it went down lol
  4. Tackle warehouse is talked about all the time on the forums. From what I can tell companies only get banned when they spam the forums (basically trying to get free recognition as if they were sponsoring ) . . Not because they are popular with the crowd. Sweet though. I like zoom. They catch fish and made in the States. I'm all for em.
  5. That's a term used by a good ol' boy...
  6. Spend a whole day fishing a jig and make mental notes of depths and areas where cover is located.. . Deeper areas located close to shallow ones will more often than not hold fish.. No matter how small a pond is there is ALWAYS a "prime " cover location. It could be as simple as a dip in the bottom or a single log... In your case the cover will be much nicer. Such as a hole with a Sunken tree next to a small island or peninsula. Senkos , fat ika , and a dropshot rig are sure ways to find some bass .
  7. X-rap. Most jerkbaits dont suspend 100% perfect . Water temp, and the line you're using also have a role in this.... I fill an old tote up with cold water and tweak em with suspenstrips. Til they suspend perfectly . With the nose just slightly pointed down. I've hooked bass up to 23" on an x-rap. And i know a smallmouth guide who swears by them. If you shop around they can be had for 5-7 bucks.
  8. Every time im fishing high muddy water. I give a shad rap a try. I like yellow perch cuz it has some flash. I had an awesome day last year in high muddy water with a shad rap. It's worth a try. They're killer on all kinds of species in all types of water. And a good price point too.
  9. Just don't mix anything with z-man baits lol... They last so long I never even think about repairing them... Senkos on the other hand..
  10. Sure lol. It's not a secret. Rather simple really... She would take the filets and let them soak over night in water , with lemon juice , and salt.. The next day take them out and rinse them well... Mix a couple of eggs with some milk in one bowl.. and put your favorite crackers In a zip lock back. She would then crush them with a rolling pin . Choose whatever spice you like. She used cayenne.. but if you want hotter or milder adjust accordingly.... After rinsing the filets , dip them.in the egg and milk then roll them in the cracker and spice mix Cast iron skillet optional.
  11. Crappie , perch, pike, walleye and salmon are all much better tasting IMO... My grandmother has a spicy cracker crumb breading that would make any fish taste good.
  12. Wings. And whiskey
  13. . Try the search bar. But make sure you're searching the fishing tackle section or your results will be less than stellar. I found a recent one for you .
  14. @shimanoangler to be honest spiderwire and powerpro will do you just fine. I've been using the spiderwire for over a decade and never had issues with it. Using it both on spinning and baitcast gear. Power pro is just a little smoother IMO. But I like the camo braid and floro braid (just braid that sinks) that spiderwire has to offer. I tried cabelas brand "Ripcord" and it was the worst I ever used. First time spooling up the line dye came off instantly all over my hand , reel and line guides without even being wet. So I'm good on that. The two I mentioned have landed me hundreds of bass in my life so I'm confident in those. I fish all types of water... Deep and shallow, muddy and clear, current or calm.. braid works in all of.them.. if it's clear or using treble hooks I will use a leader.
  15. Lol then why say anything at all ? Your comment helped no one and seems.pretty smug..
  16. Senkos, hula grubs, fat ika, crawfish baits, dropshot worms and paddle tail swimbaits.
  17. What all can you catch off this pier ? When I lived in Michigan I lived in a city called Muskegon. And pier Marquette was known for producing salmon. Countless channels for big ships that you could fish the whole strip because they were lined with huge rocks. You could catch anything from catfish to sheepshead. Unfortunately they also became infested with lamprey and goby. They used to have an event (I'm sure they still do) where they would have the fisherman target the goby. All were to be killed and whoever got the biggest one recieved a.cash prize lol. They called it goby dick.
  18. I didn't even read all the comments. Nor do I have any input on the nanofil ... But I do fish spinning rods regularly. And can say I can't remember the last time I got a backlash... And that's because I use braid. On all of them . Not only does it not backlash but my sensitivity is much higher. And my casting distance as well... Any time I feel like the fish are finicky I'll use a floro leader. Pretty sure this is how I'll fish my spinning rods until I die. No line conditioner , no worry about line twist... No backlashes.
  19. All of them are B.A .... I think you should do an old man with a big beard. The chess pieces is a good idea too!! Especially if you play..
  20. Never tried a baker... the livetargets I own have caught a few nice ones.. even that stupid sunfish. But mostly on their lipless crank.. I don't own many cuz they cost too much and others much cheaper produce. I second the bomber. And yea. You'll get em to work.
  21. I'd battle some pickerel all day and be more than content
  22. I've only had luck on the scatter shad and scatter crank shallow.. no dice on the jointed or countdown... I'm as big of fan of rapala as anybody on this site... I'd try the scatter crank shallow in places you would use a dt-4 or dt6 ... You just start with a steady retrieve. And then a couple quick turns of the handle will make it kick to the outside. One time last year I caught 4 bass in a row off the same bend . Which is awesome for me because I don't have any electronics currently. Could another lure have caught me those fish at that moment ? I'm sure ! Maybe more ! Maybe less... All I know is I've caught fish with em. My favorite will always be the jointed shad rap. Tweaked with a suspenstrip.
  23. I wouldn't call em crap... They catch fish.. and that's the whole.point right. Not really a game changer tho... Some are nice. 7.5/10 for me.
  24. Yea Ive been using the spike it markers for awhile. I just now tried j.js magic. And it blows the spike it dyes out of the water in terms of how well.it dyes, and lasts. ... But I dont care for the overwhelming smell of garlic... I use scent on any unscented plastic .. such as a culprit ribbon tail.
  25. I wasn't a fan of the jointed scatter rap or scatter countown. I like the originals much more.. but the scatter crank shallow was an absolute beast for me this past season. I got one so banged up (blueback herring color) that I'm surprised it still swims well. I caught two 4+ pounders on the scatter rap shad in yellow perch. One time it was muddy high water. And another time I was doing long opposite , slow sweeps around an island in about 8 feet of water. I like em. Got about 15 or so.
