  1. I'm always trying new baits ! And somehow most of em work! That's what I love about bass fishing. So many ways to catch em.
  2. You know that "live target" sunfish.. with the big ugly weight on the bottom ? Easiest bait I've ever walked ! Snap, snap, snap , back and forth each time. Quickly ! Only have one fish on it but it was a decent one and in all honesty don't throw it. Too many baits. Always using new stuff..and somehow most of it works ! That's what I love about bass fishing !
  3. I agree... If im fishing in colder water ! My warm water jerkbait success is usually with a much quicker series of snaps. Alot of people don't use jerkbaits in summer.... Idk why .. But the same motions , or as you put "mechanics "
  4. @RoLo do you use wacky jigs for senkos ?
  5. I'd be so down if I was in Pitt ! Like the idea . Winner determined by measuring is interesting. How would you make weights official ? Everyone needs to be measured on the same type of board. Also, especially in the north, you can catch and older worn out 23" bass and have it be lighter than than one that is 21" and in her prime.. not opposed to the idea tho ! Quick release ensures good genes for the years to come. Some let money get in the way of that.. I wish I could afford to fish those high priced tournaments. Awesome boat with crazy gear.... I still get my bass thumb though. And my family is eatin'
  6. Snaps down with some slack to the bait. Yes I fish a jerkbait this retrieve also... Back and forth. Really awesome .I like the skitter walk, rapalas spook
  7. Rage mini menace ??? I wish it would have been a mini bug!
  8. Lol thanks for the info ! You should describe If you don't want to let us see it I know people have success with these. And I own a few. But when I need to get down deeper than a weightless senko can reach, I like to opt for something else ! Lots of things I like to use a jighead for but wacky rigging isn't one of them. I don't Texas rig senkos using weights either ... They were designed to be fished weightless. You could dropshot them and catch bass effectively too.. I know it works for some folks ! After all it is a senko !
  9. Agree with the above post. Any heavy action plastic fished quickly will also get the job done. It doesn't have to be rattles and chatterbaits all the time. Thats all I ever see recommended for this type of water... And although they are fun to fish , sometimes I think a rattle sends them swimming for the hills. Try a High action plastic like a rage craw on a swing head . Fished quickly.
  10. You finding deals on them heart tails or what??! Nice choice on the t - rig btw. That would have been my grandfather's choice for sure. Mine would be Swim jig - kalins lunker grub T-rig - too many man I think I'm going to go with the rage bug tho. You said football jig.. I'd want just the plain jighead and use a GY double tail hula grub.
  11. You wanna eat a 5lb smallie ? Lol
  12. @Bass & Boilermakers not to hijack this thread . But this was a baby bass fluke with blue and chartreuse that I added and used this fluke for well over an hour and the dye was strong as ever.
  13. Try the spike it markers ! I like how strong the dye is in j.js magic ! But honestly hate when I get the garlic smell on my hands and packing it around is a hassel . Its good but messy stuff ! If you insist that you like the garlic smell the spike it markers come in garlic but I opt for the crawfish scent. All kinds of colors and you can "paint" them on the spot. They say for soft plastics but they work on hardbaits too ! And it doesn't wash off! They are legit and I have all the colors. They can be had for like 1.99...
  14. I agree with the above post... Anytime I'm struggling for a bite I usually find one right on top of the cover. Finesse presentations... Senko, dropshot...
  15. I have a kayak and small Jon boat. But due to a busy schedule 60% of my fishing is from the bank. anglers say dropshot from the shore in ineffective ! My results say otherwise... If I'm fearing a skunk I'm tossing a senko or a dropshot. I like using small 2/0 ewg hooks and Texas rigging the plastic making it much more weedless than the "standard" nose hook. This is especially effective in ponds with an all muck bottom, where the Texas rig and jigs are not effective. Yama kut tail worm is my favorite drop shot bait.
  16. I've never caught a crappie on an artificial worm... Craziest thing was probably a 5" swimbait. But never a worm. Everytime I hook a crappie on bass gear it just gets dragged along the surface lol.
  17. I seen something somewhere about a man who only fished the devil's horse. And had a bunch of trophy bass to show for it... I know for sure he was in the south.. but I think it was in Florida ! The popper I referenced above.. you don't need a megabass popmax to be effective . My PB was 24" long and just over 8lbs. And it was on a rapala skitter pop in the oversized brown frog pattern. It's a good value for sure. At the most 10 bucks. I found some online and at a flea market for around 5-6 bucks.
  18. Agreed ! I never hit the water without senkos. They aren't always the ticket. But more often than not produce... Hell my girlfriend catches bass on them. Toss it out there and they eat it ! It's the closest lure to live bait IMO.
  19. I catch fish on jerkbaits in the summer lol. Many anglers make the mistake of putting them up and only using them in cold water... I'm talking mid summer , blazing heat jerkbait success ! You need to fish them faster, and target break lines. Use your search engine and look up fishing jerkbaits in summer. And you'll see many pros spilling the beans on using jerkbaits in the summer.
  20. Popper Mike ! My biggest topwater bass have came on a popper . In the middle of the day.
  21. I rage every time I hit the water.... One way or another.... Bug, craw, menace... Always raging
  22. Yea I don't like the action wacky rigged either. I was catching em today t rigged weightless ! They didn't really quiver like a senko but they would dart around like a fluke. I was bank fishing and hooked one on a thorn and was fighting to get it off and it easily stretched to over a foot lol. Pretty cool stuff. I have so much tackle and so little time I never get to use it all... I like em tho and I'm going to try them on a dropshot
  23. Do you only fish them on the ned rig ?
  24. Knock the bottom out of it.
  25. I got some within the past week... Softest stickbait I own by a long shot. They saved me from a skunk today too. If you're stretching all the salt out of them.. what does it matter how much is in there to begin with ?
