  1. @Choporoz Right.. ok...
  2. @Choporoz he still would be helping him ? And he'd catch more fish for sure that way ? I think the goal was to help the veteran catch fish ? And if he wasn't able to hook them himself then handing him the rod after you do so would surely lead to him catching more fish.. If I feel a bass pick up my senko, and I don't set the hook then it could end up being gut hooked , and if it spits my bait that doesn't mean it will take yours !. It sounded like he just wanted to catch fish. I don't see anything wrong with setting the hook and handing them the rod. I do it for my nephew's and cousins and girlfriend all the time. The goal is for the veteran to catch fish. He would still be able to fight the fish and release it.. The bottom line is more fish would be boated and caught by the veteran if he set the hook and passed him the rod. And that's whats absolute.
  3. I mean dude if it's like that, I'd just set the hook and hand him the rod?
  4. I'd get a forage established first. Bluegill and/or perch. Then add adult largemouth. Like at least 16-20"+ . The bigger the better, because genetics play a roll in the size of a bass. Water conditions and forage availability are main factors but even with an abundance of forage doesn't mean you will grow "monster" bass ; you need the proper Gene pool. Another thing to consider is you don't have much room for a bunch of "monsters" . Put too many in there and you'll end up with big headed skinny bass . At 1/4 acre these fish will be like your pets .
  5. Yessir! I've made that mistake many , many times . I don't do it if I can help it. I hate the heat and am forced to wear pants when I work (construction/remodeling) so I usually really want to wear shorts when I fish.. and I do if I'm on a kayak or boat! For bank fishing tho it's jeans and boots for me .. I'd rather be hot than have an ugly itching rash for 7-10 days. A few years ago I was fishing a chain of ponds, and the front one has stunted bass problems in which we removed and started stocking larger ones again . Long story short I caught a decent one in the back pond and decided I'd take it to the front one, I was wearing shorts and took a thorn to the fleshy part around my ankle... Unbelievably deep and we couldn't get it out. And guess what!?! it's still in there . Doesn't bother me really but it bugs me when I think about it. Wouldn't have happened if I was wearing pants !
  6. Wear pants and boots when bank fishing. Helps guard from tics too. Foot is a bad spot to get it, as it will always be rubbing as you walk. Get a script from your doctor if it's in your cards. Predezone* I believe is what they will give you. Otherwise air it out the best you can and your body will do the rest. Go swimming in a chlorinated pool.
  7. Rob I think you should take a look at some other poppers.. then this whole ordeal wouldn't be so painful. My PB came on a popper that costs less than 10 bucks...
  8. Seems like pretty decent pictures to me ! Looks like fun ! Sweet !
  9. Lol... First world problems... My boat is too big Nice rig.
  10. Go to the upper right hand corner , click on your user name, then click my attachments. Let it load and deleted some of your older posts that have the biggest MB. Then you can upload more in the future I love crappie fishin. Usually what I do with guests who don't have the patience for fishing artificial for bass
  11. Talk about a score...
  12. My number one mistake is bringing loud mouths to my spots. Followed closely by impulse buying.
  13. It's no secret the dingers are a little stiffer than the original senko. That being said I do just fine with them ... I started using stickbaits wacky... But now rig them 50/50 between wacky and weightless Texas. Most of my big senko fish have been caught while rigged Texas style. Lift and drop or sometimes ripping it off the bottom for the TX rig. And same for the wacky except jig it up instead of just a lift. I like the zinkerz for the nail weight or "neko" rig. They stand straight up while at rest.
  14. It depends on the size , depth , color and temperature of the water... Weather conditions... If it's not fished very often. I'd try a senko pitched to obvious bass locations (cat tails, sunken trees, a small cove) then followed by a jig.
  15. I caught my PB using 20lb white braid.. none of it seems to make much a difference. I wish power pro was a sponsor so the mods would pimp them out
  16. Lol.this is kind of funny. You shouldn't be using too many GB unless you're streaming videos and music. Anything you stream or download will use your GB, but roaming on this site all month will hardly even use a fraction of a GB.
  17. I have a 6 foot medium heavy spooled with braid that is perfect for small frogs. Hollow body or soft plastic.
  18. Yessir I suppose you are right. It was a finesse jig... I have heavy duty spinning rods too for catfishing and they work great. Also have a couple MH spinning rods that I use for topwater poppers, crankbaits, heavy t-rigs and spinnerbaits . However I only use it for bank fishing on a not so rod friendly bank. I could go all spinning and don't think my catch rates would change at all ! But I'm just a blue collar, recreational fisherman.
  19. Spinning rod doesn't necessarily have to be finesse... just the other day I had my girlfriend catching bass with a spinning rod on a small jig and rage chunk. Using braid.
  20. Lol did you have to sign a waiver ??
  21. How tiny is tiny ? I fished one that was probably 100 x 20 feet... Not yards lol. And caught a bass out of it that was probably 16" and hadn't been stocked in years ! You could always grow some monster gills in there !
  22. He was talking about how hot the wings were... Nobody has tried that atomic from quaker steak ? Lol
  23. It's gotta be tough putting people on fish every day in the same body of water ! Or does he jump spots ? Even so.. every day in April ?? Making sure guests are hooking fish every day of the month sounds like more than a chore to me... I think it would take the fun out of it for me... It's cool that people do it tho.. river smallies ! Yea buddy
