  1. Hey man yeah the weather has been terrible. I was smoking them at Sleepy Hole a couple weeks before. One day I caught a 5 a 4 and a handful of 1-2s. But since then Ive been completely struggling to catch a dink if I'm lucky. They aren't active either. Normally if the bite wasn't on at the park side I could see them active on the course side but it's been like a graveyard. Ill tell you that you aren't the only one. Let me know if you figure it out. LOL
  2. First decent ones of 2017. Both choked the KVD squarebill. Both probably about 3lbs...the bottom one might of been closer to 4. Super chunky and nice fighter.
  3. Yeah I was gonna fish that BPS lake a few months ago and a storm popped up so I left. Never went back but I will come spring. And I def wanna hit up Mariner's. I took the family there to check out the museum and walked down to the dock. they were doing renovations then but I think they will be opening it back up for fishing soon. Ill check it out spring time.
  4. Yeah I'm stuck to the bank still. I do catch 2-3 just about everytime I go to Lone Star so you should do well there with a kayak.
  5. Butler Tract they usually hit Senkos. Green pumpkin weightless T-rig. Or T-rig worms. I've caught them right off the dock like that. I'm sure that would work since you can reach more fish with the yak. If not they probably just weren't in the mood to bite. Crane Lake-again I'm stuck to the bank so it might be completely different. But I've caught Stripers, blue cats, white perch, spots and croaker. For the perch and croaker I used squid on a hi Lo bottom rig. For the Blue cats I used a fish finder bottom rig baited with cut bait. Eel or perch cut bait I marinate with garlic and salt. The striper I use live perch. Hope that helps. my advice is from a bank fishing perspective but I should help some. Oh and Crane Lake does have puppy drum. I've seen them caught. I've never caught one. I mostly target blue cats and perch.
  6. Thought I'd start a local area topic. Feel free to post your catches in the Hampton Roads area. I fish all over Hampton Roads. Still stuck to the bank but saving up for Hobie kayak. Hopefully will be cruising the water come spring. This is a nice one I got out of some canals in Va beach. And I lost a monster. I had it basically landed but I was on a overpass about a arms length away from the water and no way I could swing it. I got on my belly, reached down and the knot snapped. I was using 10lb braid with 8 pound floro leader and it snapped at the hook knot. Probably my fault...I hadn't checked my line in a while after some snags. I was sick to my stomach...

    Yum Dingers

I went out yesterday. Threw a green pumpkin Yum dinger for about 10 cast. Didn't get a nibble. Put on my favorite GY green pumpkin Senko. Caught 4 fish in 5 cast. That is enough for me to only use GY Senko. They are expensive and not as durable but if I am gonna throw a Senko then I will use the GY.
  8. first time fishing in awhile. got a decent one in a small pond in Va Beach. Near Lake Trashmore.
  9. I was fishing today. A pond in Newport News. I saw big bass chasing bait fish in the shallows. For some reason I couldn't get them to bite anything I offered. They followed a spinnerbait, and a swimbait but wouldn't hit. I tried everything and got nothing. It was fustrating as hell because they were good size. Probably at least 6. Any suggestions?
  10. I don't think so. Then again I've only been once and I didn't read the signs. Best bet would probably be to call them and see
  11. I got a decent fish from city park today. im gonna bring my bush knife next time so I can clear a path. or wear long pants and boots. I had shorts and flip flops on. But I found a area clear enough and got that 1 and a dink.
  12. Man! I was planning on fishing pretty much all those you named soon. I work in Chesapeake and I noticed all those spots just couldn't fish them on the job. But good to know there are fish in them. I'm definitely gonna hit them up. I might go this evening if I get done with the honey do list in time. Lol
  13. I've fished the one behind the hospital. Well I didn't really thoroughly fish it but I didn't see any signs of life except a ton of frogs. I might try one more time. The one next to Applebees I already scouted and it is on private property. Joint Force Command Complex. I guess if I worked there i could fish it but that is the only way. Thanks for the suggestions though.
  14. Awesome. Ill stop by next time I am at Bass Pro. Sounds like the man I need to talk to.
  15. I am Southside. Churchland area. All the ones I found close to me I am pretty sure didn't have any fish. I didn't see any baitfish. No baby bass or bluegill. But I will keep looking. Lone Star has some decent fish. The one in my avatar was caught there. And I catch 1 or 2 like that almost every time I go and quite a few dinks. You have any pond suggestions for Chesapeake? Like a general area to start. Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.
