Correct, I put the wrong information. swimbait rod is med/hvy... but it sounds like the rods can be used for both techniques. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
Hows everyone doing? Im a kayak fisherman and looking to have 4 rods to cover all area of fishing. a spinning reel, medium, med-hvy and hvy.
My question is.. can a hvy swimbait rod (dobyns fury 1/4-2oz lure weight) work as a flipping rod ( dobyns fury 3/4-2 1/4) or vice versa?
I will use it primarily has a flipping rod like 80% and the other 20% for big heavy swimbait
Hey guys and gals, Ill be staying in enterprise Alabama near Dothan until early December. I would love to be able to go fishing at lake eufaula, if someone was able to meet me there and take me out on the water, I'll help pay for gas and buy lunch. Are there any other Great Lakes or ponds to fish near enterprise ? Can I bank fish at Eufaula ?
Im available this weekend if anyone would like to meet up near the Army rec site to go fishing. I dont have a boat but im able to rent one or Ill buy lunch.
Thanks, I saw the dragonfly bait but with bad reviews and only having a special purpose it didn't make sense to me. I appreciate the info.
I tried a stick bait rigged Texas style due to the amount of grass (wacky would get caught up). The idea of sticking a skirt through the head sounds like a great idea. Thanks
I was at my local pond and the bass were blowing up on dragon flies. I had pretty good luck using a toad and buzzing it on top.
1) what is a good lure to imitate dragonflies?
2) is there a buzz toad that floats? I feel like I have to reel fast for it to buzz or my cast is cut short when it takes 10 feet for to reach the surface?
Awesome thanks for info.. I only three summer time techniques and they are frogging, punching and deep..I haven't had much luck deep fishing and due to all the stumps I tend to lose a lot of lures. That is why I'm looking for those grassy areas
@Catt I live in Louisiana but I'm willing to travel to where ever the fish are this upcoming weekend.
hello all, I have been struggling fishing out of pirates cove and i have a long weekend coming up and would like to venture out and fish different areas of toledo bend. Im a kayak fisherman. Do you guys know any good areas? Also if you are looking for a fishing partner, im willing to help pay for gas or lunch if you are wiling to take me out.
I have a 4 day weekend coming up and I'd like to try fishing a new area. I usually fish the south west of Toledo bend. Since I have a 4 day weekend, I could venture out and spend a couple days at the north end of Toledo bend or travel to Shreveport and fish a couple different lakes. I'm not a trophy fisherman but the idea of possibly catching 10 pounders in Toledo sounds more exciting. However Toledo bend has been tough fishing for me. If someone knows anyone that fishes these lakes and could fill me in on some grassy areas that would great. Thanks
If you can afford it. It might be helpful to find a guide on your lake. They will be able to put you on some fish and possible teach you a thing or two about your lake.
Hello all, I'm looking into getting a new spinning gear.. I have a rod in choice which is the donyns fury medium ( for lite lures and skipping, bc I can't throw them on bait casters) and for the reel I was looking at the kastking speed demon.. I'm aware that bass resources likes KK. My question is a high gear ratio spinning rod needed? What are the pros and cons ? Thanks
I'm not actively fishing big bass, if I catch one that would be amazing and by sheer luck.. but seeing how I fish Toledo bend where big bass live. Let's say I hook a 12 pounder, will 10 pound be able to real it in? I would imainge I would have to be super careful.
I fish on a kayak so space is limited and kind of looking for a multi purpose rod for heavy lures..currently I have a top water rod, medium rod for light lures/shallow cranking, med/heavy (fate) for jigs/deep cranking.. but if the fate doesn't perform what would be a good choice for the $100 range (thinking dobyns fury or kastking pro rod)
On the lipless once I castes it a few times and confirmed it wasn't vibrating/swimming I tested on the top of the water near the boat. Just kind of pulling it and seeing that it did and it wasn't doing what it should..
in the deep dive in using a 6.3:1 which is faster then what the internet says to use. So I don't know if speed is the issue but I may be mistaken.. crankbaits are suppose to be reeled slow correct ?
Hello everyone, went fishing this weekend with a new rod (*** black fate) it has 12 or 14 pound fluorocarbon line.. I through a lipless crankbait and it wasn't swimming at all. Later I tied in a deep diving crankbait (20ft) and while fishing in 12-15 feet I couldn't get the lure all the way down.. is it the lures causing this or the rod ? Any advice would be helpful.
Hello all, went to Toledo bend this weekend (July 21st) and the water was soooo choppy. It was crazy. I don't have any experience in super choppy/windy conditions. Can someone give a few tips and tricks?
Top water baits?
shallow or deep?
docks or shoreline?
Crankbaits or swimbaits?
Really any information will will be helpful. Thanks in advance
if anyone fishes by themself on TB I'd love to tag along and learn a few things. I'll pay for gas and lunch.
