  1. Yes, have noticed that I need to put some speed on the SB to get the 3s going. I started making spinnerbaits based on the success I was having with the Booyah Pikee spinnerbaits. We will launch our kayaks into the ditches that connect with main river systems. The current is slower in these ditches and the 4.5s that Booyah uses didn’t seem to be a problem. However we have now been venturing into the actual rivers themselves and that’s when I noticed the current was really catching the larger 4.5 and lifting it.
  2. Thanks of the replies. I am going to try the 4 and 3.5 combo. I am using 1/2oz SBs.
  3. I have been rolling my own SBs lately as I have had quite a bit of success with them in my fishing adventures. For you river rats that use SBs, what size willows have you found to be good in the rivers? I like the the 4.5 willow with a 3.5 willow in front and that combo has caught a ton of bass and pike for me. But in the current, this can really raise the SB in the water column. I was thinking about going down to a 4 and a 3.
  4. This Right Here^^^^^^^. Me and my fishing buddy have our kayaks set up completely different. We fish for the same species and together all the time. Another thing to consider is that you may need/ want to modify your set up based on the species of fish you are going after, how you are fishing for that species, and the type of environment you are fishing in. My kayak is set up different when fishing lakes vs rivers/ ditches.
  5. Having a fish or even a lure give you a "Sleigh Ride" is just part of the kayak fishing reality. The more resistance a lure gives being retrieved in relation to the angle from the bow of the kayak is going to increase or decrease. Some kayaks deal with it better than others. My Kaku Wahoo for example which has high rocker (The front and back are up out of the water a bit) seems to be super sensitive to this.
  6. Not trying to start any s**t, just more or less asking a question and get a good answer. Why are forum members not allowed to post youtube videos? Plenty of other fishing sites allow it and there is not an issue with it. Quite a bit of folks are running video cams in there boats and yaks these day and are getting some great footage. My post got deleted and I got the "warning", but all it said was that I violated forum rules. I would like a detailed explanation if that is possible. Thank you.
  7. I fish exclusively out of a kayak when I am on the water and while I can stand in the yak, I sit and fish quite a bit. I have the Live Target mouse (the smaller version) and I cannot believe how easy it is to walk with just a little practice. From the side, just using small twitches of the rod, will get this lure going and keep it going.
  8. Hello all. I have been using this site for a while now during google searches as a source of information so I thought I may as well join. I have fished on and off my whole life, but when I started kayaking three years ago, I really got back into the fishing scene- specifically LM and SM Bass. Looking forward to meeting some new folks here and sharing the fishing stories!!
