  2. Man they are hard to juge by a picture. I would say between 6-6 to 7-2
  3. Man, what a great fish. Nice pics. Thanks
  4. I am so ready. I have had a flock in my area since last fall. There is a big bird in there I want. Nice long beard and I would bet nice spurs. Its the only time I don't fish. Maryland Spring is fun. I am always trying new loads. Anyone have any ideas on powder numbers and shot? My reloader needs a break from the old stuff.
  5. I agree. I watched the report the other day on PBS and it started out as a up tempo report until they added some broker analyst to the mix. It was all down hill from there. I think any growth, even short term is a plus. It will be bouncing for a few years but...
  6. XiCr rod in 7wt, Battenkill LA reel. Streamers. I use a lot of saltwater streamers in greys and whites. Look in the Cabela Cat. You will see what I mean. Its fun.
  7. Atta boy!!!!
  8. ---This ones for you RW. I have enjoyed your post. I did have a few questions. How many beers have you had during this time online? How many times have you had to answer the " what kind of line should I use ( we all know the answer by heart, lol ) and how many " Good night Irene's " have you put in to stop trouble before it started, Heh, heh. Again, congrats. ----Jim
  9. Wow, cool piece. I never heard of one. I wonder if its made by any other man's. I wouldn't want a Taurus but it would be great in a Ruger or S&W. I got to have one. It would be nice while hunting mushrooms in the spring against those nasty Copperheads. Thanks for the info.
  10. I thought number one was bad until I read number five. Dude, you have got to be kidding me, that's so stupid. I would never do that with a train. Everyone knows you stand on the interstate and do it with trucks !!!---DUH !!!
  11. Prayers to the child, family and students whom have to deal with this. I will give a prayer at Mass in the morning as well. I ask for yours as well. I did not know the family but eight miles away a guy just set his girlfriends house on fire ----he lived with her--- and it burned up her thirteen and eleven year old daughters. He said he did it to get sympathy from the town to get some financial help as he was not working. He set the place ablaze and then attempted to put it out but it got away from him, he said. Go figure.
  12. I think you will get a ton of answers on this one. Myself, I use a MH 6' Gator Rod, a Stradic and #8 line for all my Jerk's with the rod down. For the smallies around here I use mostly a Rapala Husky Jerk in Tenn. Shad in a no. 10 and 12. I just throw it out---far--- let it rest for a few seconds ( cold water) and crank it down two or three times and then---Jerk-Jerk-Jerk--let it rest for up to a minute and continue. I alternate my offers at times. Its fun catching them on Jerks.
  13. Wild animals belong in the wild, not in a home. Before you scream at me----Just my opinion.
  14. If you are fairly new to this tubes will work great. I tend to shy away from UL tackle on the Susky and J. I don't like to wear down the fish so much. The faster you can get them in the less stress on them. Plus when they get out of the eddies into the fast water on high water and UL won't cut it. My clients used to bring UL and when they used one of my Med/Fast or Xtra Fast rods in 7' they liked them much more. Have fun.
  15. No, I don't see why it would have to be a newer Curado. I just like my older ones because I have so many. I use them for spinnerbaits, cranks and such for smallies. Other than that I use spinning gear. They are all just tools for different jobs.
  16. I run up the J in the spring from the Duncannon ramp on the Susky. The J is a great smallmouth river. I have caught some nice 5 plus out of that river. Tubes in Green Pumpkin, Dark Meleon and 1/8 leadheads work. Throw them straight up river. Have fun.
  17. 115 and 128 with the latter my pref. Don't be afraid of going bigger for smallies. Smallies like big stuff.
  18. So guys, what is it about Spooks and smallies? I have caught them on all kinds of tops like Pop-R's, Rico's, Sammies, Torpedoes, you name it but most of my nicer smallies----5 to 6---came on big Spooks. Hmmmm.
  19. One of the older Shimano Curado's is great for this on a 7' med/fast action rod. I use #12 test and have not had a problem chucking Senko's.
  20. He was fishing that grub dude. I never use over #8 for smallies. Most of the time it is six unless I am around the rough ledges or trash where I fish then its #8. I only go higher for smallies when its a baitcaster and spinnerbaits. I use #12 then. Any higher in the current and it just bags too much. I have tried those da** swimming jigs for smallies and they never did much for me. Oh, I caught a few but give me a five inche bluegill colored grub any day around here.
  21. I don't get to excited about mistakes in the use of the English but it drives me nuts when I talk to a patient or anyone for that matter and every other word is " YOU KNOW ".
  22. Shallow water: A 6'-7' rod in med/fast action. I prefer a six on small streams but on the river in the boat I much prefer a 7' rod. If you are just starting out I would use tubes most of the time and 4" grubs. Green Pumpkin/Red Flake Dark Meleon/Purple Flake are good starters. Have fun. "Puke" as the guys said is a very popular one here as well. I had a client whom threw nothing else!
  23. ;D ;D
  24. I like big tops too. Nothing like a Spook and smallies.
  25. Great job Muddy. Do not say it isn't much. All of us whom have been to college know how much work was involved in getting through those two years. Again, congrats.----Jim
