  2. http://phenixbaits.com/products.php?cat=71 Here is the link to the blades on Phenix site but they aren't cheap. Allen
  3. The good news is the new Collins mold (In the pic) pours great and the heads come out looking like they were spincast. Bad news is I have to clean up all that mess before my wife sees it. Still cannot think of an excuse as to why lead is stuck to the house siding. Allen
  4. I am fine but have a nice mess to clean up tonight when I get home. This is my 12th year pouring lead baits and I am completely paranoid about getting burnt. Since I get tired of unclogging the pot all of the time I started using the little ladle in the picture. The lead cakes I use are from a plumber friend since he no longer uses lead. The cake was cold but not wet that I could tell but when I put it in it started crackling. Crackled for about 5 seconds then just blew like a volcano throwing what I estimate about 2lbs of lead everywhere. I was at least 25' away which I do everytime just in case something like this would happen. This is the only problem I have had in 12 years besides a buddy trying to put 12lbs of lead in a 10lb pot. Allen
  5. I have yet to find a square bill that works as well as the LC RC 1.5. Allen
  6. Always remember safety first when making lures as it is fun but dangerous. My lead melter was getting low so I added another cake. Now I always use gloves and one of those things that picks up trash to keep my distance. Below is the aftermath of a lead explosion. Allen
  7. Buy your bobber stops from Amazon, my wife bought me like 50 rings for $12 shipped. Allen
  8. I would like to find some solid black or GP backslides myself. Picked up a pack of black on clearance for a $1 and crushed the SM on a shakeyhead. Allen
  9. Those look the V3 Phenix blades to me. Allen
  10. I have a few packs that I will sell. Allen
  11. I make my own as well using jigheads from Cast. Allen
  12. Chartreuse dynamite gets them every time. Allen
  13. That green and orange Keitech is the best sunfish imitating trailer hands down. Allen
  14. Small finesse worm is about all I use along with a cylinder or bullet weight in 1/8oz. Allen
  15. Married and for some reason she has not said anything about it yet. The lead pouring table on the side of the house has been brought up though. Allen
  16. TJ's is who I bought mine from as well now that you mention the name. The only modification I have done is bevel the inside edge of the bed and outside edge of the cups. Allen
  17. You need to post a video towing that thing around some other fisherman talking about how you are trolling for the big ones and post it here. Allen
  18. My #1 producing jerkbait is a LC Pointer 65sp in a Japanese color I bought off ebay about a decade ago. A couple years ago I was fishing from the bank below a dam after work for several days and lost it. In 3 days I had close to 150 fish during the evenings after work. I went down the next evening with a scuba mask and got my lure back! (along with about 20 others). The Game Warden who watched what I was doing said I was crazy for a single lure but it was worth it. The lure is semi-retired as it is on its 14th set of treble hooks and they have almost crewed through the plastic as the paint is long gone. When I say semi-retired I still carry it around but am afraid to use it since I have others but it has permanently earned a spot in the tackle box. Allen
  19. Depends on what you are trying to duplicate? If it is a craw and you are dragging the bottom then use the same trailer as your other jigs. Most of the time I am fishing a swim jig I am trying to imitate some sort of other fish. For open water a 4" grub works but most of the time I am fishing in or over shallow water grass. My top 3 are; Keitech 3.8" Fat impact, 4" Pline Kick-R minnow, and Damiki Anchovy shad all of which are boot tail minnows. Other baits work but I found 4" is the perfect size as 3.5" is to short and the skirt interferes with the trailer and the 4-5" is too long. Allen
  20. Like others I have quit using them for some reason? They never seemed to work in Lakes but man did the Potomac River smallmouth just crush them. On hot summer evenings we use to wade and fish them below the dams on a spinning rod. Stand with your back to the dam, cast as far downriver as possible then leave the bail open. Hold the rod tip high and listen for the buzzing and when it stopped set the hook. Honestly I think the reason I stopped using them was the Tiger Muskies around here started to steal them all the time. Allen
  21. I looked into making my own years ago but for the $40 price tag it wasn't worth it. Mine isI bought off eBay like 10 years ago works great and is one of the best investmentsi have for lure making.
  22. If you can't catch fish on a Smallie Beaver or similar bait in the state of Maryland then take up a new hobby.
  23. Everyone should carry a few of these in their tackle bag. For days when they will hit any spinnerbait I recommend them. Wire or zip tie the skirts down and you are set.
  24. If you are interested in making your own I am sure Seibert would sell you just the jigheads. Allen
