Making your own lures is fun if you know what you want. Actually you can save money on it if you are disciplined which most are not. There is a satisfaction you get from catching them on something you made in your basement though. Allen

No you cannot! He will just cause you to spend more money on baitmaking supplies. Next thing you know you will have hundreds more baits that you made that you will never have time to fish. I know because I have made 176 jigs so far this year and do not lose more than 20 a year. Allen

Almost forgot about the Spots! For some reason the spotted bass liked the non-natural colored baits. That tequila sunrise color just slayed them. Allen

Timonium, MD use to have one of these shows every year in January. It was shut down a few years ago because the dealers were being charged too much for floor space (so I am told). Spent about 20 minutes talking with Brent Chapman which is my highlight of the years I went. There is a local one at the Boonsboro, MD Ag Center this weekend that I recommend. This one started out as just a used tackle sale but has grown. I rent two tables to sell stuff but usually end up buying more than I sell. Allen

I spent 18 weeks in good old MO for the Army at FT. Leonard Wood and found that overall GP was the best color to use anywhere I went except one place. Mostly I fished the ponds on FLW but also fished LOZ, Meramec, and the Big Piney and the results were similar. Meramec was more stained than the other places so black w/red flake worked better but GP was #2. Overall my best colors/baits for the state were: Baby brush hogs= GP and watermelon candy, Senko= Natural shad, baby bass, and GP, Lizards= Zoom PB&J, tequila sunrise, and a Madman bait in Volcano. I loved MO as there were so many places to fish and everyone with a house or doublewide trailer had a 2 acre bond in their yard. What I didn't like was the cottonmouth I ran into at one of my fishing holes. Allen

So far I only did 5 blades as a test and 3 I screwed up by dipping them in the wrong order. I have more blades on the way and once they get here I will do another run. Will send you a few to test out to see what you think but I am impressed so far myself. Allen

I have made a lot of spinnerbaits over the past 30 years so if you have any questions call me, I will PM you my number. You are off to a good start but there are a lot of nuances to spinnerbaits so I can save you time with trial and error. Allen

I know enough about a lot of lures to be dangerous but not an expert in all things. Those baits I bought some of for fishing down at Chincoteague but could not remember if they were Storm or Berkley. Allen

Besides the SK Midnight Special I make all my spinnerbaits for the same reason. Allen

Wife went out with friends and had a few drinks so she is out and the daughter is in her room playing some game on the phone. I have the chemistry set out and look like I am cooking meth trying to blacken some chatterbait blades. Just going to do a few at first to get the process down hopefully. Allen
