  1. New to jigs used one yesterday and caught 2 solid bass one was probably a 4, most places that I fish are very weedy and I almost always bring in weeds, are certain types of jigs more weed proof than others and does trimming off some of the weed guard make it less weedless?
  2. Have you guys ever used the flambeau boxes with the blue tabs that are supposedly rust proof, looking for a way to stop lures from rusting, I have lost several over the years to rust and they are to expensive to keep losing them to rust, this year I have started using the silica packets that you would find in stuff like beef jerky and putting them in my boxes, these seem to help a lot but not 100% of the time, are those blue boxes worth it or is there other things that can be done to prevent rust?
  3. I have 3 baitcasting reels that I have never cleaned out (Im realitivly new to nicer reels and rods) the worst is a bps pro qualifier it is 3 years old and has never been cleaned. The reel cast very poorly and is not smooth so I don't use it anymore, does it just need to be cleaned out? The next is an Abu Garcia pro max that I bought at the beginning of this year, it worked fine until I put 50lb braid on it, the braid is now removed and the reel is not the same, now unless the magnets are all the way up it will backlash and is not as smooth as it was, does it need to be cleaned or is something else wrong with it. My last reel is an Abu Garcia black max that has 1 1/2 years of use, this reel still works well and is now my main baitcaster, it however is not as smooth as it use to be, would a cleaning do it good or will it be ok. How often do you guys clean and lubricate your reels, and what products do you use?
  4. The pro max is good and so is the black max for a little cheaper
  5. First ever chatter bait fish
  6. I've been fishing a pretty weedy resivoir and it already catches the weeds occasionally, I think that I will continue to use it how it is just be a little more patient and wait to set the hook and if that doesn't improve my hookups I will pick up some trailer hooks to expirement with.
  7. I have been throwing a buzz bait in the evening lately and the bass have been destroying it, but for about every 3 or 4 blowups I get I only hook 1 bass. Is a trailer hook the answer and do you guys use trailer hooks on buzzbaits? thanks
  8. Problem solved i respolled with 30lb powers pro and the problem went away
  9. Not new to fishing, just decided to start bass fishing almost exclusively this year and trying to learn as much as I can.
  10. Yes the line breaks mid cast, I make sure to check my line often and retie when needed I don't have any tackle shops nearby could I try using some sort of lubricant on the eyes to reduce abrasion
  11. I think it might be the guides, they are a little beat up on my mojo bass and I always wondered if they affect the line.
  12. I have lost 2 lures due to my line snapping while casting, I use 14 lb Berkeley triline extra smooth casting . Is my line breaking because it is not quality or could it be that I'm not using heavy enough line or what? If so is there any other monofilament that is not to expensive that you would recommend? Thanks
  13. I have thrown all kinds of top waters including poppers, spooks, frogs, buzz baits and jitterbugs but have had no luck. I have only ever caught one top water bass and that was off a jitterbug. I have read many times that mornings and evenings are the best times to use top waters. What time of day do you guys have the best luck and what type of lure are you using, and can you catch them mid day.
  14. Thanks for the tips and information
