  1. Thanks everyone for the help! That would explain why I can't find any info on it if it was from the 80's guessing I got it as a Christmas present from my dad..
  2. No it's not a broken spinnerbait and it has a hook and hook guard just like a jig does I'm guessing it's a 3/0 or 4/0 hook that it has.. it has every characteristic of a jig only it has the hole going thru the head instead of an eye to tie it to.
  3. Hey everyone! I have a strange jig here.. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of jig it is? The head looks almost like a swimjig but with that the jig does not have an eye to tie to. The line feeds thru the jig head and out the bottom of it. What kind of knot would you use or would you put like a swivel at the bottom to prevent the knot from coming thru the hole? Anyways thanks for any help you are able to offer..
  4. Thank so everyone so much! Can't wait to get out on the water so I can start trying these new tactics out!!
  5. So I have a question for everyone.. how do you go about choosing weight size for jig like lures? I don't or haven't done much jig fishing so I feel like I'm completely clueless when it comes to trying to determine wherther I should choose 1/2oz 3/8oz or maybe 3/4oz jig size jigs.. the same concept for trying to figure out chatterbaits and tungsten punch weights... I'm guessing people are going to say it depends what kind of structure I'm fishing and how deep.. I have no idea how deep I am fishing usually because I have a small inflatable pontoon boat with no electronics.. but I do have some maps that I printed out on the lakes I fish and most of the time it's usually no more than 10-15ft max just because it is usually pretty shallow with lay down trees, stumps, lots of submerged vegetation Lilly pads. Also lots of various docks too. The majority of the lakes are not very big lakes but have excellent cover for hiding bass.. I'm up in western Washington just south of Seattle.. anyways any help or suggestions any can offer is so very greatly appreciated! I have learned so much from you guys already but never really did much if any jig fishing... Growing up it was always spinner bait and crankbaits when bass fishing... I feel like I'm not a complete bass angler because jig fishing isn't such a hug staple in a bass angler arsenal..
  6. Thanks everyone for the input! I really appreciate it! @MassBassin508 So that pit boss was past its prime and was in a garbage baggie.. So naturally it was sacrificed in the name of R&D!
  7. One thing that I can always do is throw a little super glue on it to hole hold it into place..
  8. RMax do you mean like a small paddle tail worm or maybe a small swimbait? I also had another idea don't know why I didn't think of it sooner but what if I took a havoc creature type bait and cut most of the body off and just had it at the base of he hook? It moves from side to side but it may work.. Here is another picture of what I did.
  9. Hey everyone I had a question for you guys! So Pepper Custom baits has the boom boom bladed swim jig I was wondering if any of y'all put a trailer on it and if so how? So there is a wire that runs along the shank of the hook all the way to head of the jig. Every time I've tried to put a trailer on the jig it slices my trailer and splits it down the middle of it. I tried to upload a my pictures of my jig but it keeps saying the file is to big.. so this will have to do.. This is the jig I am talking about but it doesn't show the wire very well.. Anyways thanks for any help you are able to provide! It's a little darker but I think you can see the wire better..
  10. Hey everyone! So we are taking our annual fall family road trip to the Spokane. I was contemplating on bringing some of my fishing gear with me I know the weather isn't going to be great but still was going give it a shot.. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as some good places to go? I will be fishing from the shore so I am kinda limited as to how I will be able to access the lake and search for the fish.. Anyways thanks for any suggestions and help you are able to provide... Dan L.
  11. Hi there Everyone- I was wondering if anyone here know where I can find detailed depth maps of lakes here in Washington State. I know NW fishing Reports has some but the small lakes that I fish they dont have very good maps. I was wondering if any of Y'all knew of any places online that I could find some that don't charge. I thought I could do it on google earth but either I'm doing wrong or I can't do it. Any as usual thanks for any help you are able to provide! Dan Langel
  12. Hey there everyone! Needing a bit of advice so I am going to attempt to try to fish using a Carolina Rig which I have never done before. Most of the lakes i will be fishing is roughly no more that 20-25ft deep. So I learned on here that there is this contraption called a Carolina keeper that you can put on your line so you dont have to tie multiple knots. I have lots of different plastics and creatures/craws that i can throw on there what size hook should I use or recommended type of plastics? Do i use kindof the same set up as a Texas Rig except you have a weighted leader with a bead? Placing the hook into the plastic the same way as a texas rig? Now can I cast that into some pretty heavy cover? I live like 30 miles south of Seattle and alot of the small lakes in the area have submerged weeds and lots of lily pads. Thanks so much for the advice and help.
  13. I use to be all about crank baits and spinnerbaits... That's all we use to use growing up but now you have all these fancy things!! Lol! My eyes have been opened up to senkos and various different creatures.. I usually weightless Texas rig the senkos or creatures.. Or sometimes I'll wacky rig the senkos but there is usually to much cover i.e. Downed trees or pads for that.. I have also been told about swim jigs and chatter baits and have a few of each but all of my success was on weightless Texas rig senkos or creatures thrown in pads. I don't have any electronics money's a bit tight for that... I don't even have a electric trolling motor yet.. I know it's post spawn right now females are in recovery mode while the males are taking care of the fry.. Maybe I'm not throwing the right stuff and they are just really picky right now..
  14. Hi there i am fairly new to the site but absolutely love it there is just so much information here it's amazing! So I recently got a small personal pontoon boat and it's awesome so much better than trying to fish from shore! It's nothing fancy but it works! So I am having some serious problems finding bass with it. It very different than trying to fish from a normal boat where you can stand up. You can sight fish but with the pontoon it's not that easy.. I have an anchor for it and I find it so much easier when I drop anchor otherwise I get blown all over the lake.. I live in like 30mins south of Seattle and there are bunches of small lakes in the area that have great bass but feel like my fishing sucks cause I have boat now and haven't caught a bloody thing.. I been bass fishing as long as I can remember it's the only kind of fishing I know.. Anyone out there have any tips or suggestions on fishing from a pontoon boat? Here's a picture of my boat. Thanks for any help or suggestions!
