  1. I live in north Palmetto so I'm usually fishing around the green bridge or the Bradenton bridge right now. Those places are close to me and I have access to them at night
  2. I recently picked up 2 of these from academy when they opened a store near me. With a 20% off coupon for opening and came across a 10$ glide bait I couldn't pass it up. But has anyone thrown these? These are gonna be my first glide baits and I'm not really down to spend 30+ $ on a glide bait that I could lose bc I fish from shore so I figured these would be a good starting point
  3. That's what I've heard is they are more active at night, but I'm in a little cove area and land locked so I might have some troubles getting a bite. But we will see!
  4. OK, I'm finishing at night bc that's when I have off. So I'm pretty much just hoping I can hook up on one during that time. I've got a jerk bait that I bought thinking that it'd work well for snook, I've only thrown it once so I need to put more time into it bc I think it could really produce. I'm fishing from the bank so I'm limited on where I can get especially at night.
  5. OK, I got a couple packs of the vudu shrimp last weekend and gave those a try, but I couldn't really find any videos on how to fish those things well. I kept seeing people putting them on popping corks, but I don't have one of those.
  6. I live close to the river and fish it on the weekends when I'm off at night. I'd like to target snook along the river anyone have any advice for that?
  7. I don't have a basket yet, it's on my list of things to get to be set up for catching bigger fish out there. I've got some 30 lb floro. How long of a leader should I be tying on? Usually for fresh water I use between 3 and 6 ft, but I assume ima need a longer leader for this application
  8. Should I just spool my reel with braid and go to a floro leader, or do I need to have a pretty big section of floro. I'll be doing some pier fishing, and fishing from the beach.
  9. Thanks for the info, I figure I'll be holding my rod the entire time I couldn't see a need to set it down unless the bite is super slow.
  10. I've got a kastking rekon reel paired with a crixus 7ft mh rod. Not targeting anything specific, it's gonna be somthing to do on my nights off, not trying to tempt the swamp puppies I'd normally be around during the day, so pier fishing is my next best option.
  11. Yea salt water, FL gulf side night fishing to be specific.
  12. I figured dropping off the pier, I'd be dropping sprimp or squid pieces.
  13. I bought a kastking set up for pier fishing, which I'm new to, need to get it lined and rigged up. Any suggestions of hook size and type, sinker size, and line type and size?
  14. I've always heard about the "sweet spot" in BP but never really check when I go fishing, mostly bc I'm limited on the chances I get to fish so if I get the chance, I'm going. But does anyone check and go fishing depending on it?
  15. I got some 80/20 sticks from work cut them down to 20" used some corner brackets to attach those to the bottom bar to add some stability and keep the bottom reel off the ground, and took some long aluminum angle brackets and upsized the holes so the bars on my headrest could fit through it keep it all upright. Then I took some. Hooks that have a rubber coating on them, cut them down a bit, drilled holes and attached them to the aluminum 80/20 stick
  16. I wanted to be able to Cary my rods around with me in my car, was hard to do with kids and putting stuff in the back but I finally found a way I like. I may make some adjustments to the height of the hooks but overall, I'm happy with how it's turned out. https://ibb.co/4NtcM8N
  17. Had a very successful trip! My uncle and I both landed some very nice peacocks, and even a clown fish. We'll worth the trip!
  18. I have bought 2 telescoping rods from kastking to keep in my car all the time. And just recently broke one of them from stepping on it., while I'll buy a new one I'm going to buy a casting and spinning 2 pc rod set up, I 3d printed some hooks that I can put around the head rests in the back of my suv so I can keep my set ups with me at all times.only thing I'm worried about is since I soley bank fish, I have a backpack of gear and I melted my soft plastics last yr idk if it was from the heat in the car during summer months, or if it was bc I took them out of the original packages and put them in my soft plastic bags.
  19. I soley bank fish. Don't have access to a boat or kayak so it's always on foot. I run with 3 rods and a back pack with 5 boxes full of lures, a punch of soft plastics and another box of hooks. I usually decide what 3 lures I'm starting with, and will throw them all in the same spot for 10-20 min and if I don't get bit, I'll tie somthing else on 1 or 2 of the poles and move.
  20. I ended up booking a trip to lake Ida, and renting a room in the area. Super excited to hook into some peacock bass
  21. Dang, was really hoping to avoid that 3 hr drive, but seeing as how the entire point of the trip is to hook up on some peacock bass guess I'll be taking that drive. Thanks for the info!
  22. I'm heading down to the Sarasota area to visit some family in the area and we wanna try and target some peacock bass over the weekend while I'm down there. But since I'm going to be on the west side of the state I'd like to try to not drive to Miami ft Lauderdale area to hook up on some of these guys. Does anyone know of any good areas on the south west area of FL that are a good spot to find em?
  23. The wife and I are lookin to go somewhere in state and do a little fishing outside of the normal places we can go around us. Does anyone have any good spots or recommendations where we can do some bank fishing here in Missouri?
  24. I literally have zero reasons to visit the Wentzville dicks now. Awsome. Thanks for the heads up.
  25. Ofically starts today. Hitting the waters for the first time this year. Lined my poles out a week ago but any decent day we've had its been crazy windy. Not trying to catch a birds nest on the first cast with new line
