  1. Okuma Guide Select and Mojo Bass Arig/Swimbait rods are what I use for my big baits. If I'm buying a Loomis, it'll be a M or MH for more standard applications where sensitivity, weight, etc are important.
  2. I'm using a 7'2" medium/moderate action older All Star rod for my smaller, shallower cranks. I do a lot of river and creek cranking with this rod, and usually from the shore so the extra distance helps really chuck those baits.
  3. Absolutely not. They typically have very poor drag systems, don't do great with heavier lines, and you can accomplish any presentation on a casting and spinning gear. Spincast setups are just easy for new or younger anglers to use, and that's about it.
  4. I would just run straight 50-65lb smooth braid from any company and mark up the first few feet with a permanent marker. I mainly flip and punch dense vegetation and the water is almost always stained.
  5. Grandebass Airtails. The tail has air in it, so it's always going to float. I slay on these things rigged shakey, trigged or weightless.
  6. I dropshot when the bite slows down, and if i'm fishing a little deeper and see suspended fish, I'll also powershot using a larger 2/0 or 3/0 hook with a trigged worm, super fluke or even a wacky senko. For dropshotting, I like to get the bait to sit right above the submerged grass or structure. Dropshot rod is a ML Mojo w/ 2500 Symetre and Powershot rod is a MHF Duckett MMP w/ Abu Revo S3000. Both spooled with braid, 6# leader on the drop rod, and 10# leader on the powershot rod. The MMP might be a bit of overkill but it is a very fast taper with a sensitive tip, and can still move bigger fish from deeper water.
  7. I put mine one half to 2/3 away from the weighted side or vice versa. I don't run my hook as its shown below, however. I run it parallel with the bait.
  8. I own three standard Tatulas. (MRB, MHFB, and HF) They are without a doubt the best rods at their pricepoint that I own. Absolutely worth even standard retail price, but I got all three of mine on sale. They are strong, sensitive, and extremely lightweight. My favorite combo at the moment is a 7' MRB Tat with a ConceptA on it. Whole setup comes in right under 12 ozs, can be fished all day, and I can bomb lightweight baits with it.
  9. I own a few different St Croixs in M, MH and H. If I were fishing any weighted trigs, I would also choose a MH. I have a MXF (SCIII) rod that I use for small weightless plastics, jerks and topwaters that works well but I wouldn't throw jigs or worms on it.
  10. 3/8 tungsten Eco Pro Kira casting jig in black. Black Super Chunk Jr trailer.
