  1. It’s worth noting that Wisconsin changes their bass season to catch n release all year now. Might be worth investing in a Wisconsin license now.
  2. I think it’s splitting hairs, but the new Tatula Elite will do just fine imo. I’m a Daiwa guy, I’ve fished a lot of high end reels including an Aldebaran 2016 or 2017 model, Chronach MGL, Bantam MGL, and so forth. Daiwa is my choice and they do the job well also very consistent from reel to reel in terms of setting up.
  3. Thanks gents, I’m going to check with a local shop then decide what to do.
  4. IMO if it isn’t DC then no. If it’s DC I’d consider it. That’s the only thing which Shimano has that Daiwa doesn’t. For me that’s the deciding factor.
  5. If you are okay with used, there are some sweet deals out there. Frydog mentioned the NRX and I see them locally selling for 300-400 used. The Braillist is a great rod from Megabass, Exprides from Shimano are solid, Dobyns are good I have the 755 Xtasy and love it. Maybe check out rods at a store so that way you can tell how each rod feels. Good luck.
  6. The Powell has an end cap similar to rod pictured, I’ve always liked the rod and it’s fairly light too. The only downside is I’d probably loose warranty, but it’s not a big deal. Trying to decide if it’s worth doing.
  7. Lite trout, Warden Hitch, and Bluegill. Work on your retrieve, that is what will net you fish and it’s all in the reel not the rod. You’ll get frustrated at times, but stick with it. Swimbaits and Glidebaits are a lot of fun!
  8. Man, if I hadn't just bought two rods these would probably fill my gaps. Good luck with selling. Question for all of us here in Minnesota. Is there someone or a shop that will do work on rods? Ie rod modification? Looking at possibly shortening the handle/butt of my jerkbait rod by an inch or so. I'm in Osseo, but willing to drive up 40minutes if it works out. Thanks. Oh, bait monkey struck again. Bought some spring baits: Jackall Rerange, Lucky Craft Pointer, 3/16oz underspin and terminal tackle. I've got the itch good. Pool 2, I'll be seeing you in the warmer days lol!
  9. So I’m in a predicament. My jerkbait and cranking rod which happens to be a Powell Inferno 7’ M/Mod Fast. The problem I have it with it is, the handle is a bit longer than desired. I’m tempted to sell it and replace it or shorten the butt up by an inch or inch n a half. Looking for some suggestions on modifying the rod.
  10. Went out Sunday to Monticello just to scratch the itch and not even a sniff. The place is getting busy, lots of people throwing fatheads or suckers. At this point it’s gonna be ice out before a touch a brown bass again lol! Hope everyone’s offseason has been good and productive. I’m going back to how I started bass fishing this summer: jigs, senkos, Spinner/chatterbait, and squarebills. A ned rig will be in there too along with a tube. Stay warm gents.
  11. I have a couple new spots, but I'm going to break down my previous known locations in a different manner and using different baits. I picked up some River2Sea crankbaits and I have a hunch they might just liven up my reaction fishing. The trick is which rod do I use for these. But otherwise, it will be jigs, swimbaits, and spinner/chatterbait.
  12. I’ll run it a couple different ways, but both with straight flourocarbon. 7’3MH/F Brent Ehrler https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=78_2091_2418&products_id=10715 or Megabass Orochi XX Tour Versatile7’H/ModFast, either 16 or 20lb flouro.
  13. Basically the Steez SV TW is more refined than the Tatula and uses better internal pieces/components. The Steez won't be a long distance casting machine, but will allow you do a lot of things easily and be more efficient while fishing. The Tatula SV really is a solid reel, when using braid my distance is awesome and allows me to really huk baits out there. The new 2020 Tatula SV starts to really bridge the gap between the two with it being less than 7oz, SV, and the Zero adjuster, but the Steez will always be the flagship. I think it comes in under 6oz and you'll notice it. If money is a concern and you'd rather just settle get the Tatula or shop for a used Zillion SV, but if you want the best of the best then grab a Steez SV TW and you'll be spoiled. I own the Steez SV TW, Zillion SV, and Tatula SV. I love them all.
  14. Dang, didn't know that. Sounds like a later than planned re-release.
  15. I read somewhere(here or B B C) there was talk of having them back out in late January or early February. That’s all I know. Your guess is probably as food as mine.
  16. Lol I’m not married, so let me guess you’re gonna push me further into the pit lol!
  17. Lol that’s like 700 and change there sir! Don’t tempt me lol! Man! Ugh!
  18. Look at the new Tatula Elite SV or Tatula Elite and pair that with a Tatula Elite 7'3 MH
  19. Here I am trying to decide between this or the Zillion 10 lol!
  20. Dobyn's Fury 743 or 744, something like that. Reel? Probably a used Tatula SV in a 6:3 or 7:3 gear ratio, they can be found for 120ish used.
  21. Had an E-motion and it was a great rod, guides were the only downfall there, but a great rod for the value.
  22. LOL, I just bought a slightly used MegaBass Destroyer Valdivia for 275 vs 400 new. I'll take that.
  23. I'll keep it simple as possible. 1/4-3/8 oz MH, 1/2-3/4oz H. 15-20lb flouro or braid to leader. That's how I roll.
  24. That gear ratio will do just about everything you're looking for. Maybe not ideal with frogs, topwater, or jigs/t-rigs, but it will do just about everything. For that reel I'd use it for moving baits, cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and such.
  25. They are a good rod for the price and perform better than expected. I’ve had a few of them over the years and loved them, my one remaining is a 7’3M spinning rod. Grab it. You’ll be happy.
