  1. If you haven't tried Bass Stalker products, you should.
  2. If you want to see that thing absolutely HUM, contact Reel Mechanic on this board and send it off to him for a going over. Spending a few bucks on a cleaning and maybe replacing a few parts is a whole lot cheaper than buying new.
  3. I see that SOOOOO often on another board. The statement usually goes something like: "I just bought a brand new (insert boat brand here) powered by a (insert engine brand). Has anyone had any experience with these brands that can tell me something about it?" I absolutely cringe when I read something like that. Ask BEFORE you go out and lay down your life savings....not after
  4. For a LONG time, one of the topwater staples here on Kentucky lake has been the Bang-O-Lure with the tailspinner in the chrome/blk back with the "tiger" stripes on the side. I always have one tied on when beating the shore in early spring.
  5. Try the Berkley Series One or the Lightnin' Rod Pro Series. I'm seriously looking around for the Series One Flippin' Stick ($69)
  6. It's about the only one that I throw. They're still readily available.
  7. I concur. Concur again. Beginning in March here on my section of Ky lake, you can't get near a launch ramp on Saturdays and Sundays, and even during the week it gets busy from people practicing for the weekend tx's.
  8. I"ve posted a few times on here about SilverThread. It's all I use and will continue to use as long as they make it. It's not the most expensive line out there, but it doesn't have to be. A great copolymer.
  9. Owner Straight shank.
  10. when there's a chop on the water and I want to fish topwater, my go-to bait is always a chrome/black Devil's Horse. I also use the rogues quite a bit.
  11. Lord knows I'm not a slave to brand names, but I'd have to say that I wouldn't be upset at having to use a Revo, Shimano, or a Quantum. Never cared much for Daiwa, though.
  12. I have a shelf in the closet full of Silver Thread line that I got from PRADCO for helping them out with some filming about 15 years ago. Some if it I carry in the boat. That line is as good today as it was when I got it. Incidentally, the only time I change/add line is when I end up breaking off enough that the spool gets low or if I want to change line size.
  13. Boat: '98 Triton TR20 Tow: '05 Toyota Tacoma 4dr, V6, 5spd auto
  14. I"ve bought and sold on EBay and never had a problem. When I buy I tend to lean towards "Power Sellers" with a high positive feedback. I also lean towards the "Buy It Now" items rather than the ones that require bidding. If I bid I will bid the maximum I'm willing to pay for an item and not one dime more. I've been beaten more than once by someone who bid more than I could buy it locally for.
  15. Falcon Lowrider LFC-6-17 or the LFC-6-1610 (one is 7', the other is 6'10"). Great rods in your price range.
  16. I had a better year than last year, mostly because I actually found the time to get out more. I dont keep track of size of the ones I caught, mainly because I don't really care. Every fish I catch is a prize, and if I happen to tie into a nice one....well, that's just a bonus.
  17. I'd managed to clean 8 out of 11 reels with no trouble (simple round reels) before I started on my three shimanos. I gave up and sent one Curado, and two Castaics to ReelMech. Got them back yesterday, and they feel better than when when new!!! He sent me a note telling me what all he found wrong with the Curado (after I'd got through with it : ), and all I can say is lesson learned. It's a lot easier to let Dave's fingers do the walking 8-) Thanks Dave. You get my business from now on
  18. As with any soft plastics, it's what the fish seem to prefer that day. The old stand-by is the lizard. French Fries also work well as do creature baits (brush hogs, et al). Also add in flukes, tubes, the list just goes on and on. In short, you can c-rig just about any soft plastic you like.
  19. Haven't used one. My opinion is that it's about $400 overpriced...
  20. They might be worth it if I could afford them, but I can't. So......no, their not worth it
  21. One of the best "how-to's" on shakey worms that I've ever seen....
  22. Repeat after me....."There is no substitute for an educated thumb....there is no substitute for an educated thumb......there is no..."
  23. If you listen to the pros, you need a 42" flat screen not only in the console, but on the bow as well. I'd recommend that if you can afford one, get one at the console. For the bow, the X135 would be a good choice with it's 480x480 pixel count. Add a handful of marker buoys and you're good to go.
  24. Kinda hard to give an opinion without knowing exactly what kind of injury you have :-? Muscle tears/bruises can turn into shades of orange/grey/black/blue/purple that you wouldn't believe. Ice will help keep the swelling down.....heat will increase blood flow to the injured area to promote healing. I would say after the first couple of days you could drop back on the ice and increase the heat time. OTOH, if you took a good shot to the shoulder or another sharp injury, I'd suggest you make a visit to an orthopedic doctor if your bruise doesn't heal up in about 2-3 weeks. Best I can do...
  25. I'm hoping to see a new LCR unit altogether on the front of mine. Current one is 8 yr old technology and WAY out of date.
