  1. You will need: a. Mold(s) b. Plastic c. melting pan/pot d. An understanding wife if you intend to do this in her kitchen ;D e. colors/glitter f. perhaps some softner/hardner If the wife tosses you out of the kitchen into the garage, then you'll need a cheap hotplate.
  2. I have a DualPro 3-bank that has run now for 8 years, 24/7 (except when I was on the water), and it still going strong. I wouldn't consider another brand.
  3. You'll probably get a lot of different replies here. I prefer "Kick'n Bass" Crawfish scent. I also use some BANG Craw as well.
  4. GoreTex is fine, but it's not the end-all. There are less expensive alternatives that are just as comfortable. Cabelas makes some fine rainwear. I have a set of their "Dry-Plus" (keeps you dry, plus it breathes). I have been out in a torrential downpour or two and stayed totally dry the whole time.
  5. You just need the right incentive. I got it the last time I visited my dentist. Had dipped for the past 30 years. I was getting my teeth cleaned and the dentist walked in to do an exam. After he finished he took a mirror and held it in front of my face and pulled my lower lip down, pointing to a white area on my gum just below a tooth. He told me that he was making an appointment for me in 6 weeks. If that spot wasn't gone I was headed to a dental surgeon where it would be cut out and sent to a pathology lab. If it was cancerous I stood to lose a portion of my face :-/ . I walked out of his office, gave away 2 rolls of dip I had in my truck and have never looked back. That was Oct. 11 of last year. Three weeks later, that spot was gone.....
  6. I use the green and clear SST. Have used the silver color in the past with no problems.
  7. I have three Lowriders......great rods at a reasonable price.
  8. I pitch just about everything. Seldom go above a 1/2oz size.
  9. Go to Lake Erie and toss a big spinnerbait with about a #7 willowleaf, waking it on the surface and watch a big smallie come zooming up out of 20' of water to bash it
  10. Snaps all the way. Vary size according to lure size. And I don't see where it hurts lure action one bit...
  11. I believe it's a 110. The one next to it is a Fender G-DEC that I have some fun with. The guitar is a Guild X-170 Manhattan. I also have a Hamer Echotone that I probably play more than the Guild. Good rock/blues guitar, but the Guild is WAY superior for jazz. Sad to say, I hardly play at all any more. I think the Guild is going on the block sometime this year.
  12. If that were a full-size rod it would be called a "Tennessee Handle". The best way to attach a reel to one is to use two different tapes. First, place the reel where it's most comfortable. Next, use strapping tape to attach the reel, making several tight wraps around each end of the reel foot. Follow that up with electrical tape. BPS used to sell a product called "Tommy Tape" that I have on my TN handled rods.
  13. Actually, there are at least three models of LR available these days. Lightnin' Rod, Lightnin' Rod IM6, and the Lightnin' Rod Prolite. You can see what's available at: www.purefishing.com
  14. Close the bail MANUALLY. NEVER reel while the fish is pulling drag (beginners do this a LOT). Even doing this, you'll still get some twist in the line....just comes naturally to spinning gear : When it gets too bad, take off the lure and let the line out behind the boat. That will remove the twist....for now. Then reel it back in, and go at it.
  15. I've played guitar for about 50 years now....forgotten most of what I ever knew :-/
  16. I just went through my boxes for the third time this winter and removed a grand total of 8 spinnerbaits, 5 hard baits, and a handful of zipper worms. Other than that, everything else gets a free boat ride every time I hit the water. My boat, my storage compartments, my gear 8-)
  17. Jerkbaits/lipless cranks.............Chrome/blk back Crankbaits...............................shad color/parrot soft plastics..............................red shad/watermelon/root beer/junebug jigs/trailers...............................black/blue, brown/black Anything else is like a baloney sammich.....Ok to have but not a necessity
  18. I have 3 Falcon Low-Riders that I use for these techniques. All 7'......all the same action. All reels, (brand aside), are 6.3:1 retrieve.
  19. Looked at a 7' yesterday. I consider them to be a best buy for a fisherman on a budget.
  20. 20 years ago, when I first came to the area I now reside in, Wallyworld's fishing dept was at least 3 times the size it is now. Oh yeah, they have a few Chatterbaits and some spinnerbaits.....Zoom plastics and not a whole lot else. I've been over there looking to find some of the great closeout prices that people are talking about here, but it just ain't happening. Maybe later......
  21. Just for kicks, I went through 60 pages of his feedback. He may have 18 negatives, but I think most of them were posted by 2 or 3 buyers who posted the same feedback a half dozen times in a row. Conversely, some of his positives posted the same feedback a half dozen times. In any event, those lures don't look like very good quality to me....JMO
  22. Gears.....schmears.......the reel is on it's way to ReelMech as of yesterday. It was so pristine I couldn't see getting rid of it, and the cost of converting it to the standard "B" model was almost negligible. Don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place
  23. This morning I traded a prop for some cash and a shimano Curado. Told the guy if he wanted to trade something in reels it would have to be a Shimano, and he said he had several. I met with his father in law this morning whom he had sent the reel and money to. The reel turned out to be a Curado 200B38 model. This reel is absolutely LIKE NEW!! Not even any boat rash on it and smooth as butter. Trouble is, I don't really LIKE a 3.8 retrieve reel. If I did a lot of deep cranking (don't do much of that), or running deep spinnerbaits (don't do much of that, either), it would be fine. Question is: What other use is it good for? Guy at the tackle shop suggested putting it on my jig rod :-? If I can't come up with something I can use it for, look for it in the For Sale/Trade section of the forums.
  24. Just installed one in my boat this afternoon....waiting for the glue to dry, cuz my drill bit the dust > Looks like it should be just the thing for buzzbaits/spinnerbaits/worms and maybe even jigs, too. Mine came with mounting hardware and a dozen hooks for worm bags. One basic set is good for 24 lures/bags. If you order from Coosa Tackle they're selling them for $5 off....$14.99 for the basic kit.
  25. I wouldn't necessarily say that. You may end up with a couple of super experiences like Bassnut. BUT.....it only takes one front-ending, hole hogging SOB to absolutely ruin your day on the water. If you really want to fish tx's, get yourself a good, dependable fishing partner and enter some buddy/team tx's. That way you're working WITH someone and not against them.
