  1. I believe Gary used to work for Powell. Also Dobyns had a limited "partnership" with lamiglas to help with there shipping. Dobyns rods in my opinion are superior to Powell primarily due to the incredible balance. Lol off subject tight lines
  2. Thanks guys went with sunline sniper in 7 lb so far I'm happy!
  3. No doubt! It's just nice buying my rods directly from the guy who designed them. I think that's why I am such a die hard dobyns fan! You can walk in and talk to some one with the Dobyns last name and get the info strait from the horses mouth lol
  4. If the fish swam away he is probably fine or will end up a meal for a big fish lol. It happens. If he was keeper size I just fry em up when that happens or give em to someone.
  5. I love the Sierra! I was able to buy mine directly from dobyns. I spent at least an hour handling the different tapers and was able to purchase before they were released to tackle stores!
  6. I fish worms and jigs about 50 percent of my time on the water. Your bottom contact rod should not be a cheap rod. The sensitivity will not be there at this price point. Reaction techniques are great for cheaper rods. Of course we get what we can afford. I saved for several pay checks to get my jig rod and I am glad I waited.
  7. Between those two, I would take the lews. I will say I would recommend saving up and getting a tatula online for pretty cheap. Way better reel and will outlast those.
  8. 734 for drop shot? Wow maybe bubba shotting with 15 lb test and a 3/8 weight. I drop shot with a dobyns Sierra 702. This rod has a fantastic tip for the technique and plenty of power to handle a big bass on light line.
  9. This. Dobyns all day and twice on sunday lol
  10. Purchase a float tube
  11. Depends on where and how you fish. I fish 3 rods on my float tube. A 702 spinning rod for drop shot, a 734 casting rod for worms and jigs and a 795 swimbait rod for my blue gill swimbaits! My point is. If you are only fishing two rods I would trailer those rods to your style of fishing and the body of water you spend the most time on.
  12. Pb for me at 15.5 inches
  13. Mattlures soft gill boot tail and hudd gill for me
  14. My pics keep doing this when I upload onto this site. The pic is normal on my phone. I don't get it?
  15. No. Go to Walmart and get an air mattress patch.
  16. Why you want to come out here in November lol? Striper season usually kicks off around March or April. Bass are always in the dirty d. I would recommend a guide. Lures? Jigs and tulles go together like pb and j! I catch bass in da tulles year round.
  17. Wait a second there are other brands besides dobyns? Lol! Dobyns fury man. Get one and you will be a convert!
  18. I've been on a light line kick this year. A decent fish on light line is a blast!
  19. Yes they are worth it. Can you rebuild a 350 Chevy with a 15 mm socket? No. Different tools for different jobs. Baitcasters handle heavy lures and line better.
  20. Ok best cheap deap diver crank talking over 15 feet
  21. Cheap drop shot lure aaaand go!?
  22. I throw a lot of big 12 inch worms, Huddlestons, mattlures and deps. I catch a lot of big fish on those baits lol lately i have been down sizing to 4 and 6 lb drop shots and crushing them this year!
