  1. I fish from a float tube a lot. I make "packages" I either put the loose plastics in sandwich bags or leave them in their original bags, then I place several of them in a gallon bag and label them. So I have a drop shot bag with all my drop shot baits for example.
  2. I have really adopted the uni/ double uni knot. I do use a smell when using strait shank hooks when punching. Learn a few knots and tie them well!
  3. Well said. I admit I am partial to dobyns because they are based 20 min from me!
  4. I was just at the dobyns warehouse and spoke to Rich personally. He said they are not the same. Fuji guides instead of kigen due to inconsistent product and aa Portugal cork is a nice touch
  5. That's great for you! I have had the Matt lures gill lose eyes and fins from just normal cast. They can be extremely fragile. They are great baits. Personally I wouldn't skip em all day at over 20 a piece and have em destroyed. Better tools for skipping.
  6. It is light enough. Where dobyns shines is the balance.
  7. Dobyns fury 734 is what I am currently using for submerged weeds. Heavy rods fast action and braided lines. I fish a lot of milfoil and hydrilla coon tail etc. The fury line is great!
  8. Lol I was just getting ready to bring this up
  9. Also Rich Dobyns was down there and I had a while to speak with him. He told me the blank for the sierra was different but close to the savy. I fished mine quite a bit yesterday "ss702" and for drop shot it performed great!
  10. It's in the mail lol the seller on eBay shares his last name?
  11. Use the robo worm re barb hooks
  12. Doesn't matter to me this time of year I am fishing ledges, deep points and drop offs
  13. So I've was about this stitching technique? I don't understand? I am a young big bass guy. I am always fishing for size and have no interest in "tournament" style bass fishing. I have caught 29 fish this year over 24 inches. I don't own a scale I just measure and release. I would appreciate any info on fishing 12 inch plus worms. Stitching? Line, hook etc. My spots are as deep as 30 feet and visibility is around 15 feet. I am using a dobyns 734 with a 1/2 oz tungsten and 16 lb sniper.
  14. Just got back from the dobyns distribution center in yuba city ca. Got a 702 Sierra. Nice rod. My new dedicated drop shot rod! The cork is nice!
  15. Just got off the phone with dobyns! Being local rocks! They have the new sierras in stock. I will be buying mine tomorrow.
  16. Has anyone used the dobyns rod upgrade program? I love 30 minutes from the main dobyns store. I was thinking of trading in 2 fury rods for a champion.
  17. I have looked but I don't believe they are "light enough" the nanoace is rated to throw 1/16 up to 1/4
  18. 103 in Northern California been fishing 10 inch worms deep and slow
  19. So I need a decent drop shot rod for 1/8 to 1/4 drop shot in 10 to 30 feet of water. I have narrowed my search to the *** *** black 6' 7" medium light or the major craft nanoace 6' 9 " medium light. If any of you guys have used either of these for drop shot I would appreciate your feed back. Also I do routinely catch bass north of 6 lbs. will these rods handle these fish in open water.
  20. How's the bass fishing in Portland OR?
  21. Oh yea! here in nor cal we have clear water and I use senkos when I have to catch fish. I have caught several fish over 5 lbs on them!
  22. Seems like I'm on the right track I've caught several fish punching 1oz unskirted creatures in the penny wort, just no size yet. And have been probing deep with 1/2 and 3/4 football jigs
  23. Butch brown deps thumper swimbait!!!!!!! Been watching him with this bait and can't wait
  24. I've recently been fishing a series of strip ponds here in nor cal. I've found that in the shallow ponds these bass gravitate to thick submerged hydrilla especially with pennywort nearby. These ponds are different. At there deepest they are 40 feet deep with around 10 feet of visibility. There is a shallow cove with submerged grass but I have only caught sub 5 lb fish there. The entire pond has pennywort around the edges. My question is where would a bigger fish go in an environment like this? Suspend over deep water?
