  1. Thanks for all the help. I am going with the ball style weedless to start with and will add more styles as cash flow increases.
  2. I'm going to be buying my first jig mold and I was looking at the different styles and wondering if I can only get one now, which style should I start with. I use 3/8 , 1/2 and 3/4 oz. I fish mountain reservoirs in SE Tn and SW Nc with alot of rocky slopes and stump feilds. I have used football heads, snooties, arkies, ball type etc. etc. Any guidance and suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. I have 3 sons from 17 to 9 and I started each one off with an ultralight spincaster and an ultralight uglystick rod. I bought each of them a starter component type tackle system (bag type) with in-line spinners, beetle spins and rapala minnows floating and sinking for pan type fishing. All three have since invested in their own tackle and equipment and we have even started building our own baits togather. All 3 have started outfishing me. I think its the time spent and the fact that starting out with good quality equipment helps to improve their skill to the point where they can catch fish consistently has made them come to love this sport. My 11 year old has invested more than $200.00 of his own money into some really nice rods and reels and is asking for his 1st baitcaster for Christmas this year.
  4. I've read somewhere that bass are territorial. How territorial are they? How far will they move to deeper structure from their territory? I fish on lakes that have alot of feeder creeks and that is where I have the most success fishing for bigger bass, but with the lakes falling to their winter levels and the bass moving to deeper structure, how far is too far for them to move? This is my first time fishing in mountain lake/resevoirs in SE Tn./ SW Nc. and my first time fishing deep. All help would be appreciated.
  5. I started making my own spinnerbaits this year and found alot of resources on the web. Stamina and Jannsnetcraft have been the best component providers for my experiments. I've tried alot of styles and weights and have had alot of good results. The main thing I found is to not go to big on blades. Stamina has a great component size chart and guide for making spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. It is alot of fun and I find I spend alot of time experimenting with different components and skirt combo's. You can build alot of high quailty baits a whole lot cheaper than you can buy them and that makes the wife alot more happier.
