  1. I'm throwing on a 6'8" Medium St. Croix Rage Rod. I'm pretty much doing everything but heavy cover/frogging stuff
  2. Thanks for the input guys! What lb test do you suggest I use? Thanks!
  3. hey guys, I'm gonna be picking up some line for my baitcaster soon and I started a forum about which fluoro and the response was petty much to not buy any if you're not willing to spend a lot. So, I decided I'm gonna go with some type of fluoro-hybrid/copolymer line. What brand do you guys suggest? And also should I get line conditioner? Should I use mono backing? Are there any certain/different ways that I have to spool my baitcaster with when I put this line on? Thanks so much!
  4. Do you guys suggest using some sort of co-polymer as an alternative? I've heard good things about Yo-Zuri Hybrid...
  5. What line conditioner do you suggest?
  6. Just picked up a new baitcaster (the Kastking Royale Legend) and I'm going to buy some fluorocarbon to spool onto it. I need recommendations on good fluoro for main line only (not a leader). Also, I really do not want to pay more than $15 for a spool. Thanks!
  7. just spooled some spiderwire stealth 30lb (dark) green braid onto my baitcaster and I was wondering if I could get away with not using a leader. Could I go straight braid in some conditions/lures and not with others? I thought it may be fine since 30lb isn't too thick... what do you guys think? Thanks!
  8. So here's the deal: I've been using a baitcaster reel for a little while now, I am comfortable with it and backlash is rare for me. This whole time I've used mono line but since I fish a lot of grassy ponds and rocky rivers I think something that could cut through the grass would be better, so do you guys suggest fluoro, braid, or stick with mono? I fish spinners, cranks, topwaters, jigs, everything and I only have one reel so what is the best overall line? Thanks!
  9. Pick up some senkos and either weightless texas rig or wacky rig it (if you don't know how look it up on YouTube). When Texas rigging you can use anywhere from a 3/0 hook to a 6/0. For wacky rigging, you can go buy some "wacky rig hooks" or just use a small worm hook. As for their color it doesn't really matter as long as it's not too crazy. Green pumpkin and blue/black is always a go-to color for any soft plastic. 5" is a pretty solid size, you could always cut it down if the fish aren't biting on it. As for the senkos or really any bait you're using you want to target structure (fallen trees, grass/lily pads, etc). For both the wacky rig and weightless texas you should cast right next to/parallel to the structure, let it sink to the bottom, give it some twitches, repeat. Another good pond bait is frogs or other topwaters like poppers. Target the same area as you did with the senko, but this time you could even go on top of the vegetation with the frog. Personally I like any popping frog- the Booyah Popping Pad Crasher and Spro Poppin Frog are great ones. Give it a few pops, pause; give it a few pops, pause.... Many say the frog is best in morning and at night because that is when the fishes eyes are adjusting so they just attack whatever is making commotion since they can't see it very well but honestly the frog and popper will work anytime. For frog color, any natural color (white, yellow, greenish) and black are always good, don't worry about what color it is on the top of the frog; the fish don't see that anyways. Let me know how you do... Good luck!
  10. I've fished for some smallies a few times in the Olentangy River in Columbus, OH. and I haven't had much luck. The water moves pretty fast in most areas and there is muddy water. I have been shore fishing since I don't have a kayak or waders. What do you guys suggest? What lures/baits should I try next and what areas should I target (ex. structure, open water, shallow water, etc.) Thanks!
