  1. I recently bought a Daiwa Coastal TWS but havent had time to use it yet. Does anyone know if its the same frame as the original tatula? According to tackletour the Tatula HD 200 has the same frame as the original tatula (with a deeper spool) and the Coastal looks like a saltwater version of the HD. I want to get some hedgehog studios parts for the reel and was wondering if the Tatula's part will fit. Thank you,
  2. I think people look down on this fish because they will literally hit anything you throw at them. Personally i dont mind, i love the fight they put up. Even the smaller ones pull like theres no tomorrow.
  3. Now that makes sense! Ill have to get a line counter and do the test. Thanks!
  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. I understand they use power pro as a reference since Shimano owns it. If you look closely at a Power Pro 30lbs spool it says equivalent to 8lbs mono. I was just curious about the capacity difference in the reels compared to what Power Pro advertises. I know it actually doesnt matter much for bass fishing, but it does for saltwater and i normally fish both.
  5. I was looking at the specs of the Stradic fk 2500, according to the shimano site it will hold 140 yards of 8# mono and 100 yards of 30# power pro. I tought 30# braid was supposed to be equal to 8# mono in size? How come theres a 40 yard difference? Shimano Site Specs: ST2500HGFK 35 mono - 6/200, 8/140, 10/120 Power Pro - 10/150, 15/145, 30/100 Thank you,
  6. Totally worth it, once you properly adjust the brakes you wont backlash and will be able to cast a long distance. Palming the reel is very comfortable. You wont regret buying one.
  7. Try hedgehog studios
  8. Greetings, Today i finally received my Tatula CT Typer R in the mail. When i opened the box i found 2 problems, first they sent me the wrong reel, ordered a left handed and received a right one ( ill have to return it ). But my main concern is the 2nd problem, the reel has a really bad "geary" feeling to it. Is this normal with this reel? This is my 3rd baicaster and i dont have this "geary" feeling with my other two reels (Curado 71 & lews BB2 inshore). Thanks!
  9. All braid tied to the spool holes or tape, havent had any problems so far.
  10. I have my Curado 71 HG paired with a 2 piece 6"6 M Carbonlite. Feels great, bet it would feel alot better one a 1 piece (lighter).
  11. Does anyone know the size? Want to upgrade the stock bearings to hedgehog air ones.
  12. Hello everyone, Im looking for a travel casting rod, anyone knows if the 7 MH blances well with a curado 70 reel. Thanks !
  13. Ill do some research on those rods, thanks.
  14. Thank you everyone for the welcome messages. Local repair is out of the question, if i get a JDM reel ill have to send it to DVT i guess. Good to know that they can service it. My only concern with the Zodias rod is the shimano warranty... it is 1 year only, right? What other rod would be a good match for the curado/scorpion 70?
  15. Hello everyone, Im from Puerto Rico and i have been saltwater fishing for the last two years. Ive been watching lots of bass fishing videos recently and decided to give it a try. I have been using my inshore baitcasting setup (lews bb2 inshore / 7"1 MH *** Omen 2) and have only had luck with 1/4-1/2oz. crankbaits and jerkbaits. So I guess that ill focus on using hardbaits for now, I want to get the lightest setup posible that can handle bass and peacock bass (budget : $400.00). Ive been reading the forums and the setup that got my attention is a curado or scropion 71 with a zodias 6"10 M rod. Will this setup be good enough? What fishing line should I use? If i get a JDM reel and it has a problem, do i have to send it to Japan or can Shimano US honor the warranty? We barely have any fishing stores down here and the variety on the existing ones is very limited, making it hard to see the rods and reels in person. I was only able to handle a curado 200i at West Marine (the only baitcaster they had...) and it felt really good. I figured out the 70 would be as good but more compact. Any imput is greatly appreciated and sorry for the bad english Thanks!
