  1. As said, you can always get a replica mount made! Just take a lot of measurements and some good *quality* pictures. Those guys/gals who make those are artists with an airbrush if you go to the right place.
  2. I lost 20 T-Riggs in 1 day. I know this because I went through 2, 10 packs of bullet weights lol
  3. I recently bought a reel off of craigslist, always sketched out about this. Anyways, went out to his 2 car garage and he had literally 300 rod and reel combos. There were 4 or 5 of the giant craftsman toolboxes taller than me, full of lures, not to mention the 30+ tackle boxes he had. It was more than half of the tackle shops Ive ever been into. Must be nice to be rich and retired.
  4. I aint never scared of a heron!
  5. Catt for sure! I wouldnt have to book a guide when I take a plane down to Toledo Bend this spring! Plus, I'll supply the cigar and bourbon haha There are too many guys on here that are WAY better and more knowledgeable about every aspect of what I aspire to be.
  6. Are they in schools? Also, are you sure they are bass? If you can see the fish, they can see you too. Bass aren't that stupid.
  7. When it comes to bass, I weigh them. Their length is irrelevant to how "big" the fish is. As for walleye, unless its a giant, measure only to make sure its legal. For Pike/Musky Ill measure and weigh for satisfaction. I like to see that 20+lb on a digital scale
  8. In dark water, color isnt as important as vibration/water displacement IMO. Chatterbaits, as stated, are always a good choice. If you dont have any of those, a rattling, chartreuse crankbait is never a bad idea. Personally, I have had success in dark water with rattling, chartreuse or white square bills and lipless cranks. Then again, Im a lipless crank fanatic lol
  9. Youre in central Florida, there are 8+ pounders in storm drains LOL the 3 you kept roughly 30 years ago are irrelevant. Nice fish man, I cant wait till I get to hold a DD LMB with my 2 hands!
  10. -when you spend half of your work-day on bassresource.com. -when you read the transcript on fishing videos because you have to have the volume off on your computer or your boss will yell at you to get back to work.
  11. 1/2oz football jig with structure bug for a trailer. Hope it, drag it, or swim it. Year round go-to!
  12. @Yeajray231 lol when I was a kid i had red hair but after moving to Washington state, spending 6 months out of the year under a gloomy sky has changed the color of my hair! but my irish beard, freckles and beer drinking habits still remain strong!
  13. I know this isnt a bass but I caught my PB northern pike this year in March on Long Lake, WA from the bank. I was throwing a firetiger husky jerk size 14 on a MH7' rod with 40lb braid and no leader. I know Im reckless sometimes but I didnt have a leader and it was that time of the year. Regardless, it was about 10' of water with weeds on the bottom, perfect spawning habitat. I threw it out there, cranked it down to its depth and paused for about 30 seconds. Gave it a twitch, 30 second pause and as soon as I was about to twitch it again my line just starts screaming to the right. I knew it was big just because of how heavy it felt. It was like i was hung on a log that was going with the river current! We get it to the bank after 15 mins and I see the size of this thing and my heart just starts pounding! It slashed us all so good when it turned to run again, I was frozen but whatever, more than worth wet pants to hold this giant. 42" 22.23lbs splashed** it did not slash us lol although its teeth could be considered knives.
  14. My PB largemouth, I wish I had a picture of it. I have a terrible history with phone as a teenager. I caught it bank fishing at the bottom of Watts Bar Dam on lake Chicamauga on a black and blue jig(idk what brand) but it weighed 7lbs on the dot! I cant remember the day but i know it was in june because it was on the new pole my dad got me for my bday. My PB smallie out of Long Lake, WA last summer.I caught it in 33 foot of water at the bottom of a steep rock drop off. It was on a War Eagle 1/2oz heavy finesse jig with a rage tail structure bug as the trailer. I knew it was giant when I set hook and my drag slipped! Battled it for 5 mins to get it close to the boat. When it came to the surface and i saw it jump me and my buddy freaked out, we knew it was a trophy smallie. I end up landing it and put her on the scale. 6.16 on the digital. Hands down one of the best feelings i have ever experienced in my life. Thats what fishing is all about.
  15. There was an amazing bank fishing spot by my dads house on the Tennessee river. We would fish it all day every day from the bank. I would watch tournament anglers get hung there ALL THE TIME. My brother and I would run up to the house, grab flippers and goggles and go get the lures after they left! We got countless crank baits, jigs, terminal tackle and even a full rod and reel combo.
  16. Usually you want to match the color of the water. If youre fishing a lake with 20' of visibility, that green line isnt a great idea unless youre gonna use a mono/floro leader. Since youre in Missouri, im assuming the water is relatively clay colored. You could easily get away with "green" line if that were the case. As for does everyone use colored line, im not 100% on that. I have CXX(gold color) Braid(obvious green) and Pure floro(clear) and Trilene XT(moss green) on my reels. The lakes I fish vary drastically in color/clarity but I have yet to run into a line shy issue besides with the braid.
  17. I broke 2 of them just casting, one I was just pulling on my jig in the left hand BARELY flexing the tip as im going to the next dock and it snapped. The other I was hung, trying to get it out and it snapped. My buddy, broke his the next week being hung too. Moral of the story is: St. Croix for life lol
  18. What was it thinking lamo thats impressive.
  19. is that a veritas? if so i have broken 4 of them.
  20. That is an excellent idea! Ill start carrying some super glue in my bag! Yes im using the Palomar knot, I usually leave about half an inch of the tag end on them already! Makes sense seeming as this lake is known for big pike but they arent very common. Ive caught a handful of ones that are under 5lbs, most of the ones I have caught in there are 10-25lbs. I will try some heavy CXX I have a spare spool of 20lb in my bag right now actually. I know that line is tough as nails.
  21. On both, I broke off a millisecond after hookset. Set hook, feel weight for a split second and then nothing... Idk if i would describe it as a pop. Its like someone grabbed it and cut the line. Im so confused on what could have happened/how to prevent it. If it were a pike it must have been 2 big boys that inhaled the rig but the odds of that are slim to none.
  22. SPOKANE ON THE MAP
  23. @d-camarena I just created my own thread. But I was using 65lb braided line.
  24. I am new to the whole heavy rig and extreme grass but I want to become proficient on any sort of water. Anyways, I was out on my favorite lake yesterday. I was using a "slither rig" im not sure if thats what it really is called but its a pegged 3/4oz skirted tungsten bullet weight with a t-rigged rage craw and I was fishing it in the thickest grass I would find. Im using a brand new spool of Suffix 832 65lb braided line. Not even 20 pitches in, I feel it hit bottom, then weight. I think to myself fish! I set hook and line goes slack. It broke off. I couldnt help but think the usual suspect, a northern pike. That was until I rig up a 1oz tungsten weight, flippin hook and the same rage craw and continue on my way. I was still flipping heavy heavy grass between really old docks. Same exact scenario unfolded. I feel bottom, weight, set hook, and the entire rig is gone. Im religious about retying knots and I know its not my knot. Well I dont think it was seeming as I had a bead between the hook and the weight on the first rig. Could it have been 2 northerns in a matter of 50 yards? What could I possibly have been doing wrong to make my line break like that? Is there a secret Im missing here? This area of the lake/river Doesnt have hardly and rocks or wood plus I would have felt them if that were the case... Any input? Ive been thinking about it all day.
