  1. Hyprids have been stocked in my local reservoir for awhile now. many lures work but the main ones I see are white pearl super flukes below the dams. I catch them all the time trolling a couple rattletraps in 15-20ft of water. basically and bait that imitates a shad. These fish fight like crazy and mainly run in schools all over the lake chasing the shad. if you ever see shad busting the surface or seagulls flying around above the main lake areas get there quick as possible and throw a big 5" flutter spoon and hold on. They hit it like a freight train. some of the most fun you can have finding a big school of stripes/ hyprids
  2. not sure I can add anything to this. jigs would be my go to
  3. im definitely guna try to be a better offshore structure fisher instead of just a cover fisher, or a least offshore structure+cover. I believe this is where the big bass are. and also not where all other fisherman are.
  4. Thanks great explanation Nitrofreak, Catt and WRB.spending a few days on here I feel like I'm on another level in my knowledge of bass and the hunting of them, now I just need to put it too work on the water!
  5. @WRB Based on what you said about dividing into thirds and applying a seasonal category to each one do you believe bass travel the whole lake? or did you mean apply the seasonal pattern to each third?
  6. Good ole jelly! I need to dig these back out
  7. @CattThat's ok I'll just use my lure recognition software
  8. Just curious what have been you best producers the past few weeks? Bream are on bed in my area so the chatterbait has been good, and well the jig is always good
  9. What the heck is that thing?
  10. familiar with all of the above except for scroungers. I know what they look like but that is the end of my knowledge. how do you use them and what are you imitating with what plastics? Whats your favorite Carolina plastic when fishing DEEP?
  11. Will do, next trip to lake I will be doing a lot of riding and looking at the screen around all my creek and river channels maybe find some cover near them and I should be in the money!! what are your favorite lures for the deeper Y's? I will definitely be throwing a jig. Thanks guys
  12. that's what i was thinking, most of mine are main lake or right at the creek mouth
  13. I will definitely check them out, what times of the year are they most productive for you? I was thinking most of the summer in the hottest times
  14. I like the looks of the boomerang and how it retracts. Think I'll pick one up. Thanks for the tip
  15. I see a lot of stuff for sale just wondering what works best and is easy to carry, clippers work great for my other lines but my knife cuts braid better
  16. I don't use about 90 percent of the tackle I have but at least I know it's there lol.
  17. I keep all my plastics in the original bags including zman. I always felt that the baits would lose there scent or oil if stored any other way. Right now they all go in the free bag I got from joining B.A.S.S , there is easily 30 bags of plastics in there and it's not big or bulky. Works great, there are also these binders I bought that would work http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tackle-Binder-or-Replacement-Pages/product/37107/
  18. I don't really change worm colors actually. Red bug, green pumpkin red flake seem to work all the time
  19. All above is good info and if there are bass there a senko will normally catch em. One thing I do in ponds is take a beetle spin and take off the small grub. Cut a ribbon tail worm in half and put in on the beetle spin. Red bug is a good color. Use it like a mini spinnerbait all over the pond. It will catch bass and brim just alike which will make the day more fun for you. I'm not convinced there are bass just yet tho, keep tryin and good luck
  20. Understood, and it might but when I want a faster fall I just use heavier jig, I read your other post as well and just wanted to add that I throw 1/2 ounce jigs to the bank regularly and bass swallow them the same as a 1/4. Good luck
  21. This. From what I know the only reason for color change from natural to dark in muddy water is just to help the bass see the jig better also wanted to add that I understand the convienence of using one jig all day but it's always good to retie every so often. Don't want to lose a monster!
  22. I use jigs more than any other lure I have and just throw straight braid. Are you fishing in extremely clear water? Sinking factor doesn't really come into play in my opinion. Jigs are heavy enough to sink any line. I do use leaders on some occasions normally 10 pound fluro with different lures, only tip I could give for that is to use an Albright knot to connect the lines instead of a swivel- much better
  23. Nothin wrong with live bait. Don't let anybody tell you different. I don't fish competitively which is the only time it matters. Glad you had fun
  24. most any carbonated drink will somehow (coagulate?) or clot the blood. I pour it on gill dunk fish in water and repeat. normally takes about 2 times and it stops the bleeding. bass gills are tougher than you think tho
