  1. I also hardly ever fish without my wife and I hear that often as well but she has no health issues to blame it on lol. It'd normally my fault for being to close or to far away and I need to work on my trolling motor skills haha. Gotta love em tho.
  2. you have to pay attention to the new dodges though. my cousin has one with a Fiat diesel engine instead of Cummins. I'm not saying thats what your friend has just wanted to add that
  3. I count all days on the water good, anything over 5 fish is a good day unless there all under limit but I love fishing almost as much as I love catching
  4. I believe everything after 2013 have it. They are starting to require it for farm equipment as well. If you were looking at used I would look for one without it just because it will require less maintenance.
  5. It is made up of urea and it is injected into the exhaust yo lower emissions of the exhaust gases. There is nothing wrong with this except the epa forced manufacturers to program the trucks so that they won't run without it. Parts are also expensive
  6. Those are what I use. I was taught the trilene knot as a kid and I haven't had any reason to change. I will on occasion use a polamor knot when tying at home just for the heck of it really. I just started using Alberto knot and have seen a few others but as you said its the easiest to tie and I believe it to be plenty strong
  7. I am a diesel mechanic and only work on commercial trucks but our service truck is a 2015 3/4 duramax. We also have smaller box trucks with the same Cummins engined that are in pickups so I have a little experience with both. Both are good engines, I prefer Cummins myself for dependability and they are easier to work on when needed. They also have a great service website that anyone can access.I'll put a link at bottom. Both engines should run over 300k with good maintenance, if your going with an auto transmission I prefer Allison over any chrystler trans but I heard someone say that Dodge lost the license to Allison and that Toyota has it now(not confirmed). I will also say that both should pull anything you want and the 2015 duramax we have is extremely quiet for a diesel. But if your like me I look for the simplest design and overall dependability in my trucks and this is why I like the Cummins. There are Cummins engines in all makes of semi tractors from kenworth, freightliner, international and Volvo. they offer these options because of Cummins fuel milage along with dependability. Overall I don't think you can go wrong with either one as both will serve your purpose
  8. I too wonder this, in my mind I think its just something different that they don't get all the time
  9. I agree spots are more aggressive which may be why I'm catching them even when the bite is slow, which it keeps me from getting skunked so that's good. Not sure why I'm having trouble catching largmouth in wood right now. I should mention I'm mainly referring to the Chattahoochee river but this would also apply to my local resevoir
  10. Been having a few tough days lately locating largemouth but have been able to catch spotted bass around rocks about 20ft deep. Curious would you expect to find largemouth in same area as spots? And/or would you expect largemouth to be around the same depth range in different areas? How much do they vary in there habits?
  11. Always update fish finders I there are updates. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but a reset should not undue any updates.
  12. Yea we got plenty of those lol bit they don't bother you. @etrout72 I've seen those umbrella that mount on the back of seats. I've been seriously considering selling my Bimini and getting 2 of those.
  13. I have only done it once and I used a jig saw and a pry bar, although it worked I don't really recommend it but just like you I didn't know any other way.
  14. all good information. My job requires me to work outside all year long so im well aware of heat related safety. I was mainly wondering if anybody had any tricks to just stay comfortable? Think I might get a buff this year and try to keep it wet, that seems like it might help stay cool. I also saw some kind of sports towel that supposedly stays cold when wet, might try it out as well.
  15. Just curious how yall beat the heat in the summer? I feel like I can handle a good bit but middle of the day in south Alabama is hot! Especially when there is little wind. I have a Bimini top but it is useless for me on the front deck.
  16. It can be annoying expect ally when your getting poked every so often. I will say there is a difference between good pliers and cheap pliers
  17. Explain a little more about what's giving you trouble. Normally trebles come off just like a key on a ring. split ring pliers make this much easier
  18. I wasn't tryin to offend man or claim that I knew more, as I said in an earlier post you could be correct on his particular outboard because I didn't know, but I shared my knowledge on compression values and how they are based on the particular engines ratio. This is from my experiance as a diesel mechanic for the last 7 years. And you are correct my outboard is a Force which may be why mine are higher than OMC. Sorry if it came off the wrong way
  19. Idk what that stands for but I don't know why it's so hard to believe. My weed eater has 100psi compression lol
  20. Look at drift master. Thy have small bases you mount and the rod holders screw into them. There hardly noticeable when the rod holders aren't in them. I haven't found any clamp on rod holders worth a crap
  21. I don't have any direct experiance but I would think 4 or 5 foot would be about perfect.
  22. You may be correct on his being around 130 since I don't know his ratio but my 1991 120hp 2 stroke carbeurated has 155 as the highest and 148 psi on the lowest.
  23. all of those compression numbers are low, they should be in the 150's. anything under 100 and you will have power issues. the general rule is all cylinders within 10 PERCENT of each other but 10psi is normally the range. only early 80's and below outboards ran compression below 100psi because they had lower compression ratio's. the only way to know for sure what your engine should run is to find the comp ratio. for example I had a 79 25hp Johnson with a comp ratio of 6 to 1. This compression ratio means that the outboard is designed to compress the fuel/air mixture at 6 times atmospheric pressure so new it should have around 88 psi compression
  24. I keep a fish log but I don't record every fish caught. so I have no idea how many, never thought to count
  25. Nothing is certain in bass fishing use the bait that works best at whatever depth the fish are at. Use the bait that mimics the prey the bass are feeding on at the time ill also say pick 3 of those lures and get good with them. Most anglers use all of those lures but they also have about 2 or 3 they use 80% Of the time because they have confidence and know how to use it very well
