  1. I have the NRX 843c with a Metanium. If I'm grabbing one rod that will throw most any lure with ease... That's the rod! My favorite lure on the rod is a 3/8 Chatterbait with trailer. Simply Incredible!
  2. I've had good luck with the Okuma Helios 7' MF for squarebills. It's a great multi-purpose stick that can be used for several applications. Extremely light and very sensitive too! You should be able to find that rod for around $120 with a quick online search. Lots of ink on the forum herein. I run a Chronarch 51e in 6.4 gear ratio with 12# YoZuri on mine. However, you could look at a Fuego CT in same ratio and have a great setup! Good Luck!
  3. I use an MBR843 for 3/8oz Chatterbaits with a trailer. I've also had good luck with the Avid 7' MH/F for slightly heavier Chatters/Spinners. Both rods with 12# YZ Hybrid.
  4. Picked up the Helios 7' MF a few weeks ago matched with a Curado 71HG. Running 12# YoZuri. It's a do it all Rod, with similar specs to the Loomis MBR 843. Check out the multiple reviews of both the 7' MH and 7' MF here on Bass Resource. Also a great review on TT... You can pick this Rod up at Walmart for approximately $100. Highly Recommend!!
  5. At the moment, I am using 12# Copolymer on most baitcasters (with exception of 50# braid for frogs around the veggies), and 6# copolymer on spinning gear. YoZuri has a fairly high breaking strength. Been using it for several years. In all cases, no leader has been necessary for me.
  6. I also use the 6'6" LF Avid with a Pflueger Supreme 25 (6# mono) for Perch, Crappie and Bass. I like it a lot for Perch and Crappie, but sometimes think it's a little light for bass, though I have not used braid. I will likely give that a try soon! Overall this rod has great sensitivity, and I would recommend the combo!
  7. Agree on YZ Hybrid... 12# works great on Baitcaster. I use 6#YZ or 10# braid on Spinning Rods. Never had a problem with YoZuri!
  8. Hi All – I need to add a new spinning rod to the mix. Currently using an Avid 68MXF and an Avid 7MLF for finesse/mix of plastic applications (Wacky, Shaky, Flick Shake, Tubes, Grubs, 3"-4" T-rig, Light Spinners/Cranks, Lindy). Planning to move those rods from the weekend cabin where I primarily fish, and bring them to my home for local pond/lake use during the week. Primarily fishing open Wisconsin inland lakes where we tend to see areas of moderate milfoil by late summer. I’m largely targeting LM bass, but will also use rod for Walleye jigging on occasion. Looking to for recommendations on replacing those two rods with a single rod. Was thinking an LTB 610MLXF or LE 7’ ML in the Legend Elite Series. I’m not married to those two rods… nor St. Croix specifically. Will consider any brand or build options. Can you share some thoughts and ideas?
  9. Shimano baitcasters for me, Need one more rig... Will likely be a Met MGL.
  10. Check out the 6'6" LF Avid. Great stick for crappie, gills and perch. And, a good time if you get into a bass! Pflueger Supreme 25 size reel with 4# YoZuri Hybrid.
  11. I have a 7'mf spinning for general purpose. Just bought the 7'mh, and will be mounting a Curado 201HG with 40# braid for spinners, chatters and frogs.
  12. A bit higher than specified price, but Fleet Farm has the Stradic Ci4 on sale for $175.00. The sale appears to be in-store only.
  13. A Senko/Fluke is a dream on a 6'8 M/XF St. Croix spinning rod. I run 15# Braid or 6# YoZuri.
  14. I have the 7' MLF Avid with a 30 size Supreme XT. Three spools 1) 6# YZ Hybrid, 2) 15# Braid, and 3) 8# mono for rigging and jigging walleye. Very light and versatile Rod!
  15. Hi All - Received some great responses from the forum. I have thoughts on two options: Option 1: Keep Chronarch 51e on 843MBR (12# Yozuri – Chatterbaits & Jigs up to 3/8, T-rigs, Lipless, Squarebillis (1.5/2.5) – basically all purpose) Curado 201HG on 7MHF Avid (12# Yozuri – Heavier Chatter/Jigs, T-rigs, etc.) (Purchase) Tatula CT-Type R or Curado 201HG for Lightning Shock (40# Braid – Frogs, Spinnerbaits, Swimbaits) (Purchase) PQ 6.4 on 7MM Avid (I don’t throw cranks often; likely test MBR here. If that works, potentially sell this rod) Option 2: Purchase a new Chronarch MGL for 843 (bump to budget based on sale of 7MM Avid) Mount current 51e on MHF Avid Mount current Curado 201HG on Shock No dedicated crankbait rod Does either of those options make sense? How would the forum proceed? I am open to any and all options!
