  1. Again, depends on water clarity, you can never really go wrong with black and some sort of bright color. The thing with buzzbaits is that the color shouldnt matter. The blade is doing the work and causing the fish to be nosey and kill that thing making noise. I personally have a chartreuse colored buzzbait. Like mentioned above, lipless crankbaits and the like are good to have. I always go down the aisle to see if theres a sale going on. Remember not to get something that doesnt look natural..a buddy of mine had a crank bait that had a number 6 on it and looked like mark martins old stock car in nascar. He has never to this day caught anything on it. Best rule of thumb that i like to use, Keep different colors in your tackle arsenal. Also look up some youtube videos like 1Rod1Reel fishing and Lake Fork guy..they have tons of good tips and show you what to use and when and how to retrieve it. Hope that helped.
  2. Well depending on water clarity, i would definitely take some plastics. Some type of dark senko, crawdad, etc. Since you mentioned rain on and off, i assume the trees, branches, grass will be out of wack for a little bit so best to rig it weedless. I would also take a popper, buzzbait or some other topwater just in case the fish are being lazy and need a little encouragement. This could also vary depending on your location as well.
  3. I fish stillhouse hollow lake and belton lake. I like fishing Still house a little more since theres alot more places to get around on. Today i was using a DHP Bait. 4 inch stick..Basically a senko. caught a few bass but they were short by about a half inch to be keepers. just doing texas rigged style. Next time out, ill try wacky rigged etc. Water temp was about 71 degrees and i was fishing about 15 foot deep water. i was pretty surprised to be able to see pretty far down to the bottom. water was more clear than i anticipated.
  4. So i live down here in central texas, lots of kayak fishing and lots of kayak fishing tournaments.. most of the time its for bass.. Our water sucks down here in both lakes, and im trying to gear myself towards the water. My question is, am i better off going with darker color plastics and lures like black, watermelon, etc.. i keep getting varying answers and cant seem to find the consensus on what is good for low clarity water situations, especially after getting lots of rain. Based on my experience, i use very dark colors for crappy water situations. If the water is more clear, i move it up to something brighter but will still throw those darker colors since i still do very well with them even in the best water conditions.
