  1. We fished Wednesday, Thursday and part of Friday. We had roughly 80 keepers but only 20 were kept. We threw back a number of fish that had bloody looking rashes on their bodies. This is the first time we have fished this late in the year so we didn't know if this something that usually happens as the water warms up or not. I also saw the airboat sitting on the trailer spraying the water around the Six Mile Creek launch yesterday afternoon.
  2. We fished Monday and until noon today keeping shallow. 12 keepers on Monday with the largest being 4#. We had 8 by lunch and then the wind picked up blowing 20 gusting to 25. We fished to dark picking up the next 4. Decided to move this morning to the Indian/Buck area because we haven't been there this year. Surprised to see very little grass in this area compared to a year ago. Picked up several throwbacks and finally a couple of keepers. Much slower than Housen. We are probably not fishing for a couple of weeks, buddy is going out of town, reason we left early today. Interested if anyone else wants to go. RSemmes, I need to learn something besides fishing shallow.
  3. We had planned to have a group of six fish today, Friday, and Saturday. After we saw the weather forecast only three of us fished today and caught 23. Fished shallow like we did last week. All fish caught in less than 5' of water. Didn't have to measure many but didn't have any size to them. Water was slightly stained in the back of the creeks. Wish we had seen RSemmes' post earlier and tried that. We stayed after the wind switched trying to finish the last limit. The temperature dropped to 50 at 5 PM. We had less than 5 minutes of a light shower as the front came through so there was no rain run off mid lake. I don't know what the wind will do to the water clarity. We will probably be back Monday and Tuesday.
  4. Just got in from the lake. We got there Thursday right after the rain ended at 2PM. Only kept 3 with a 5#-9 oz. Friday we kept 15 with a 4#. Fished until 1:30 today and kept 8. All fish were caught in less than 5' of water using TR plastics and Wacky Senkos. We tried TR in deeper water to 15' with no success. Also tried some humps my buddy caught on Monday with no success. Housen was muddy/stained at the west end of the buoy chain. Back 1/2 of Hurricane was muddy/stained. We tried using traps and square bills to find them with no luck. Lots of wildlife out in the warm weather. We saw a young bobcat trying to stalk coots feeding close to the shoreline. He swam through the shore grass trying to get close to them. Also saw several otters, nutria, and a 5' alligator sunning.
  5. We are leaving this morning after the rain passes and plan to stay through Saturday. Buddy caught an 8.5# earlier this week and he is anxious to try again before the weather changes. We will be at F&F.
  6. We fished Housen Friday afternoon and Saturday. Caught 25 on Friday with 11 keepers, the largest at 4#. Most caught in less than 4' of water on Senkos and flukes although we tried rattle traps, square bills, spinners, jerk baits, carolina and drop shot rigs. Saturday we caught 2. We tried the big grass flat in Housen west of Hurricane. A lot of boats there but saw very little catching. After lunch went to some humps we had caught on last March and caught nothing. Buddy went back this morning and I am waiting to hear how he did.
  7. We will coming in about noon and will spend the night a F&F and fish Saturday as well.
  8. The trip this weekend went about like I thought. We mostly fished shallow and found very few fish. Friday afternoon I did catch a 5.3# next to a dock on a Senko. We fished a hump next to the San Miguel boat lanes for 15 minutes and caught one white bass on a crank bait. We could find fish on the graph but couldn't find a way to fire them up.
  9. As a newbie to bass fishing can you give us a general idea about what baits and techniques you used for this great catch? Not asking for locations other than say a ridge at 15-20', or a flat early then moved deeper, etc. type info.
