  1. Daiwa blue grease on gears. TSI 321 on bearings.
  2. Just purchased some TSI321 for this coming year. 2 feet of ice, so no testing other than spinning the spool. So far im liking it!
  3. Honestly you could get by with that Phillip's and a flathead, but I use the set for other things as well. At least for my reels. And a 10mm socket for handle nuts. There's a few small screws on certain reels that a PH0X50 works on, too.
  4. I use a set of Wiha drivers. Bought a 7 piece set off Ebay for $20. Well worth the price. I've been down the cheap road and it resulted in a few to many damaged screws. A Wiha PH1x60 Phillip's is the driver for those loctite screws at the base of the drive shaft on Daiwas. Takes em out nice and easy.
  5. The Daiwas are cleaned with new drags installed. And it aint even January yet...
  6. I sold my tatula, bought a smoke, and am content on my decision. The tatula IS nice size, but that S3 "like a glove" in my hand. Both are excellent reels, and whatever you pick, I'm sure you'll like it. Both are very good casters, too.
  7. If I'm understanding your question correctly, for heavy cover, straight braid. For lighter, open cover and timber, straight fluoro. Frog is always straight braid. 50lb-65lb for the braid. 20lb for fluoro. I only use mono for topwater. This is how I do it, others will vary, of course.
  8. I use a daiwa Zillion 7'4" frog rod for all the above. Ontop is the older TD Zillion in the 7 gear. 65lb braid, sufix or sunline fx2. My fluoro rod is a 7'6" Daiwa Tatula (the older black and gold model) with a Quantum Smoke "speed freak" with 20lb Sunline or berkley 100% in 17lb.
  9. Sorry about the rod box picture, taken right before a massive storm lol. Bought a new toy Saturday and had to try it out. A new favorite! 7'm Legend Elite
  10. My jig rod is a 7'4" Legend Extreme (not sure that model is made anymore) but im sure its VERY similar to the other Legend series. Excellent balance, awesome sensitivity, and for sure one of my overall favorite rods.
  11. My new to me boat. Pick it up Saturday, deep cleaning now. '93 Champion 190dcx
  12. I know VMC came out with weedless Neko hooks. Might be worth a try
  13. Mainly DT-10s, 16s, smaller bandits. Nothing like an 8 or 10xd
  14. Mailman dropped off this beauty today. Td-z 105H. Now if the 3 feet of ice could melt, we'd be in business!
  15. I can attest to that one. Had a beaut muskie follow right to the boat. Saw it try to engulf my jerkbait on the figure-8, set the hook to early, and the rest is history. Ill have to give tryed-and-true mono a shot, thanks!
  16. Even with the give of a glass rod, you still prefer mono? Like i said im a newbie at cranks just seems like a lot of stretch. And yes, these are casting rods.
  17. I recently acquired a couple glass cranking rods and was wondering what are your preferred line types with these rods. Braid, mono, copolymer, fluoro? I have never cranked much but want try them harder this year. The rods are both 7ft, ones a med and the others a med/hvy.
  18. The sportshow was a success?? Rod is a Tatula Elite AGS 7'6" flippin rod by Ish. Dug around and found a NIB T3 Ballistic the guys basically gave me when i bought the rod. Okay im done...till summer
  19. During my annual cleaning, i noticed some of my reels with aluminum gears had a bit of a buzz. I read a few threads saying how aluminun is harder than brass and grease doesnt hold as well. Is there a "magic grease" for aluminum/alloy gears, or is Super Lube gonna cut it?
  20. I've only ever seen them at 50% lol. My last trip up they accidentally rang up a premier crankbait rod (b stock) at full price and i failed to notice. Called them up and they immediately sent me a gift card to cover the half that was off. Awesome people and company.
  21. I can attest to the greatness that is St.croixs rod factory. These are all seconds, 50%+ off these. If i handed you 1, theres no way you could tell it was a "b" stock. Have fun on your trip up there, its awesome! Be sure to post what ya find
  22. It is pre-rigged with the belly treble and stinger in back, but its the 10" slow sink in Walleye.
  23. Spring fevers getting to me. Held out strong for awhile but...that big swimbait "broke the ice" on my tackle purchases of 2018
