Always jack your trailer as near to the axle as possible, preferably on the axle itself. There are those cheapo half-moon-shaped jacks out there, but if you have a scissor or bottle jack available, then use it. Remember, unlike most cars and trucks, the axle on a trailer has nothing inside of it that you can damage by placing a jack directly beneath it.

I don't waste time bidding. I research what other sites are selling my item for. If I can find the same item in the "buy it now" list at a substantially lower price I will buy it. BTW, beware of the add-on shipping costs, if any.

I have a condition called Essential Tremors. Everybody has them, but my brain has started misfiring and the normally invisible tremors are multiplied by a great deal. Those of you who have fished with me have witnessed my dilemma. I have spent as much as fifteen minutes trying to tie a Palomar, but five minutes is my average. That why I fish with snaps on the end of my line. It's much easier for me to change baits that way. Thankfully, when I have to retie, my fishing partner of the day has never failed to help me out.

That's one of the reasons why I will not buy or sell anything on the Flea Market unless that person has at least 100 posts.

I really don't think it's the length of the boat the the authorities are concerned about, but rather, the size of the engine on the boat. The bigger the boat, the bigger the engine required. Assuming that anyone is paying attention, launching a boat with anything above, say 70 hp would be a cause of concern.

How old, and what is the length of the boat? I once owned an 80's vintage 17' Tracker that had ZERO room for rod storage. On the other hand, I now own a 2004 Tracker TV-18 that has enough storage for fifty 7' 6" rods if you want to cram them in.

You really don't need a trailer finder. I have a transponder attached to my trailer that tells me, with great accuracy, whether it is directly underneath my boat or is attached to my truck. It will also tell me if it is beneath my boat AND attached to my truck. How's that for technology?

Boat insurance is cheap. I pay just over $200 a year for complete coverage of the boat, motor, and contents; plus $300,000 of liability. My carrier is World Wide Marine.

Braid on all my rods with the exception of my trout rod. Also, I use an XPS Flouro leader on all but the "slop/A-Rig" rod. That one is 60# braid all the way.

Pay close attention to Rhino's advice. He's old enough to have performed wheel alignments on Roman chariots.

My "expert" response is, "it depends." Let the fish tell you what they want. It could easily be "none of the above" and you will have to change baits and presentations.

It's much the same way playing golf. My cost per stroke was always MUCH lower than the rest of my foursome. That's why I took up bass fishing. But, alas, my cost per bass is now much higher than that of others.

I'm am a retiree with a tremor problem. That means my hands shake. Trying to tie a Palomar can be a ten minute ordeal for me. For that reason I use a snap on almost all of my rods. Since changing to snaps, I haven't noticed any change in my catch ratio. BTW, I never use a snap swivel - snaps only.

If I read any more of this nonsense, I'll being thinking about suiside.

Back in the old days, different agencies used different coordinate systems than the now Standard, WGS84. Some still do. The coordinate system used for the map should be stated on the map, or should be accessible from the water agency. I suppose Google would the the best way to find out how to convert the old to the new. Send a PM to Alpster. He's a land surveyor, and is very conversant with the more archaic coordinate systems.

Everything's cool here in Tulsa. We got about a half inch of rain today, but that's about all that's happened. The funny thing about tornados is that, unless you are in the path of one, you don't really worry about them. They are someone else's problem. That said, my heart goes out to those folks in Moore and other Oklahoma communities that have suffered such tragic losses over the last several days.

My heart goes out to those people who suffered so much loss. Mother Nature can be a cruel and unpredictable mistress. After two years of devastating drought in Oklahoma, she decides to redeem herself with torrential rain and tornados. Very little of the rain soaks in where it's needed. Too much, too fast, so it simply runs off. And the tornados, another evil concoction that defies rationality.

Find a rod in your price range. Give it a try. If you like it, buy it. Everyone has an opinion, but yours is the only one that counts.
