  1. Off topic, but every mention of Jack (Fishfordollars) brings back so many fond memories. Jack took me under his wing and was both a mentor and a close friend - and I miss him - a lot.
  2. Raider, you must be psychic. The only weapons that I have in my home are that old .22 that I mentioned above and an old, bolt-action 20 gauge, permanently loaded with 00 buck. I offered to give it to her, but she wants a hand-gun. Come to think of it, I probably need to replace the shells in that shot-gun. They're probably rusted in place.
  3. Welcome! Go to our "Fishing Articles" section. There is an encyclopedia of information there.
  4. LaPlace? Has it recovered from Irene? Gawd, you folks must have had a beating.
  5. Welcome passthru. What part of Louisiana do you live in? I grew up in Abbeville. I hope your Screen Name doesn't mean that you are simply passing through; trying to get rid of some lures. There's a bunch of nice folks around here. We are sort of a close-knit community and would very much like to have you join us, and participate in our forums. I hope you have not joined us simply to sell your lures.
  6. My daughter is recently divorced and, living alone, has decided that she would like to have a hand-gun for protection. She is completely ignorant on the use of pistols, so I want her to have a simple point and shoot capability. She is on a very limited budget, so I am thinking of recommending a .38 revolver, loaded with hollow-point ammo. I hunted extensively when I was a younger man, but that was 40 years ago. Since then, I've done some plinking with my old .22, but that was 20 years ago. My knowledge of weaponry these days is, to put it mildly, somewhat dated. That's why I'm here. What would you recommend for my daughter?
  7. Those Carbonlite rods are well worth three times the sale price. Buy one!
  8. You must have inadvertently hit the "strike-through" button when typing your post. I fixed it for you. Mike Goodson Moderator
  9. Sorry to say, I wasn't into fishing back then, although I did a lot of trolling, if you get my drift. I must say, the natives were VERY friendly. Have the DUI laws changed any? When I lived there, if you had three beers you were over the limit and if you got stopped, it was 21 days in jail and loss of license for a year on your first offense.
  10. Whatever floats your boat.
  11. I can't speak for the reel, but that Carbonlite rod is a jewel. I have a 7' ML that I use for trout fishing. I have it paired with a 30 series Pflueger Patriarch. It's my favorite combo.

    Quirks

Is being a curmudgeon a quirk? How about you Glenn, what quirks to you have? Don't lie, I have Keri's phone number.
  13. Welcome! Where do you live in Norway? I had the pleasure of living in Stavanger for a couple of years back in the early eighties. Norway is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful.
  14. I wonder who Manziel is going to blame after Bama kicks A&M's butt. It certainly will not be himself.
  15. It's a great technique. It never fails to amaze me how resilient the gills are.
  16. About 90 minutes East of you is Lake Fork. It's one of the best bass lakes in the entire country.
  17. You folks should try out his spinner baits as well. Same quality as the jigs.
  18. Off topic posts have been deleted. If you guys do not want to have this thread locked, then I suggest that you refrain from personal attacks.
  19. To begin with, what is your budget, and how large are the bodies of water you want to fish? When we know that information we can begin to help.
  20. Personally, I would never consider the use of 10 AWG wire for a run of that length. At minimum I would use 8 AWG.
  21. My best guess is that it's a capacitor that controls the live well aeration cycle. On the other hand, it could be a ferzenburg wankle, which would control the deflection of your flazexwan.
  22. Shades of Dylan. All you need is a harmonica.
  23. Yup. All you have to do is to move to California. For the rest of us, the odds are pretty slim. I see that you live in North Carolina. How many DD bass have you caught in your State?
  24. I'm with Joe. I don't know any "clean" jokes.
  25. Welcome from a fellow Okie!
