  1. I use dental floss instead of braid. It's a lot cheaper, but you can't toss it very far.
  2. At my age I have to rest my back from time to time. Luckily, I am tall and long legged, so I have mounted a regular boat seat atop two standard pedestals. It's almost like standing, but I get the full pack support.
  3. Wow! Five pages on how to cut braid! I think this topic has run its course. Good night, Irene. Edit: This thread has now been unlocked because there was not enough cheese to go with the whine.
  4. One other good source for maps is Atlanticmapping.com. Their maps (hard copy only) are some of the best I've ever seen, but they only include major water bodies.
  5. I was working part time as a bouncer in a bar and she walked in. The was 44 years ago.
  6. Here's a good start, http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp
  7. I'm glad to say I don't have a problem. When I want something, I go out and buy it or order it on-line. I try to keep from doing that more than three or four times a day. My psychiatrist tells me I'm doing well.
  8. Here is the latest list of confirmed attendees. That makes 29 of us so far. It looks like it's going to be a great turn-out! Just a reminder for those of you still sitting on the fence. It's not too late to sign up. Although the cabins we have had blocked have been released to the general public, there are still many available. Reserve yours now. There is no penalty for a cancellation, provided it is done seven days prior. 00Mod Alpster Ark Bassin is Addicting BassnChris & wife Beckie BG RTR Coots and dad Randy Dinky Fishing Rhino Ghoti Glenn & Keri Jack Fate Long Mike Macmichael & wife Susan Mike L & wife Jean Papajoe 222 Pete-K ProCrafter Riskkid2 & Friend Susan Roadwarrior Siebert Outdoors & Buddy Nathan
  9. Welcome!
  10. Has anyone received an email from me? I hope not, because I haven't sent any. My computer somehow contracted a virus that resulted in weird emails automatically being sent to everyone on my Contacts list. My apologies for any inconvenience.
  11. Literally, that beautiful voice brought a tear to my eye also. The last time I heard a voice like that was in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption," when Andy was playing the record over the loudspeakers. I speak neither Deutsch, nor Dutch, but the translations were in French. Surely you understood that!
  12. If you are fishing from the bank, at the end of the day, put a swivel on the end of your line, and then tie it off to a post, or fence, or something sturdy. Then, open your bail and walk off enough line for the length of at least a long cast or two. Then, using a soft cloth (I usually soak the cloth with KVD Line and Lure Conditioner, but it's not required) pinch the the cloth between the thumb and forefinger on your line, point the rod tip at the point where you tied the line off and then begin reeling it back in, walking toward it as you go. Maintain tension on the line. When you get back to your tie-off point, your line twist will have been removed.
  13. Turn up your speakers and listen. Then turn them up more and listen again.
  14. I have a couple of Loomis rods that I bought in the Flea Market. To me they are no better than any of my other rods in the $150 price range. I think the only thing that Loomis has going for it is the unlimited warranty, and I've heard that even that is going away.
  15. Thanks for posting the info Greg. A link for the fishing licenses, plus much more information, is also provided in Glenn's first post of this thread.
  16. I'm very pleased to announce that, to date, I have received 27 Registration Forms from folks attending from 10 different states. I am awaiting the receipt of forms from several others who have committed. Looks like we are going to have a good turn-out this year!
  17. Mike L, I received your Registration Form today. Thanks!
  18. Lake Houston, Lake Conroe, and a little further afield is Lake Sam Reyburn.
  19. Any man who doesn't eat grits is either an androgynous commie pinko, or a yankee.
  20. Problem solved. Deck A Tors Ranch House in Town Creek is about 10 minutes away. They start serving at 6:00 AM. Thanks to Jack Fate and BassnChris for the detective work.
  21. Thanks! I know the place you are talking about, as I spotted it via Google Earth. It looks like a cross between a convenience store and a truck stop. I've tried to call them several times but got no answer.
  22. There was simply not enough participation on the forum, so it was quietly done away with.
