  1. Seriously guys, if you are planning on attending our annual Bass Resource road trip, to be held the18th -23 March please PM me and please contribute to our pinned Road Trip thread in the General Bass Fishing Forum.
  2. And then KVD would punch his lights out. That I would LOVE to see.
  3. I have the Bass Pro model that Coots originally described, but I wish I had known about the ProMariner model. That would have saved a lot of time cutting off the plug and re-wiring. It's probably cheaper, too.
  4. I often "anchor," but I use the Spot Lock function on my Minn Kota Terrova. The motor keeps me in the same position, without me having to use a real anchor; although I do have one on board.
  5. Pete I hope you can make it. Toledo Bend is a hellova fishery.
  6. In the anticipation of on-rushing old age (I'm 68) I installed a swing-down ladder on the back of my boat several years ago. I wear my PFD only when the big motor is running, so your post caught my attention. Not once have I ever practiced getting back into the boat using that ladder. Come warm weather, that task will be very high on my agenda. Thanks for the heads-up.
  7. Geez, here we go again. It seems like every couple of months or so, this topic raises its ugly head.
  8. I have three sets of rain gear. Light, Medium, and Heavy. The light gear is BPS's Redhead suit. I wear it most often because it stores very compactly, so I can pack it in my tackle bag. I've worn it as needed for about five years with no issues whatsoever. The second suit is a BPS lined Gore-Tex suit. I seldom wear it, but it works well at temperatures above freezing. My third suit is Cabella's Guidewear, which I bought on sale at 50% off. That outfit is awesome when used at temperatures below freezing.
  9. I hate to admit it, but I have a "lucky" pair of sneakers that I always wear. They look disgusting.
  10. Guys and gals, so far I have had only one response to the above request. It makes it very difficult for me to plan any events without your input. PLEASE respond!
  11. Having spent most of my career in the oil industry, I can say with a fair degree of certainty, that a prolonged gross reduction in the price of oil will have an adverse impact on the industry as a whole. If the oil companies cannot make a profit at the current prices, then wholesale cost reductions will occur, which means the loss of tens of thousands of jobs. Many of you are too young to remember the carnage that took place in the eighties when the same events that we are experiencing today occured. Many cars in Houston, which was, and still is, the oil capital of the U.S., were sporting a bumper sticker which read "Will the last person leaving Houston please turn off the lights." I hate to think that it might happen again.
  12. I can't speak for John, but I will say "no I wouldn't have." Having used their gear, I can now say that Pinnacle offers some of the best there is. I can only hope that their marketing campaign can keep up with the quality of their reels. So far, it hasn't.
  13. Bert, the offer still stands, but I hope to have an Ulterra mounted on the bow by then. Same as the older Terrova, but this one self-deploys and retrieves. Perfect for an old fart like me.
  14. Since you don't feel like finding it yourself, here's the link http://www.bassresource.com/tackle-reviews/
  15. Good question. I have two of their baitcasters and one of their spinning reels. One of the baitcasters is the one mentioned above, and the other is the new one that retails for less than $100. I'm too lazy, and it's too cold for me to go into the garage to get the modle numbers. To be honest I have no idea of what Pinnacle's definition of hand-tuned really means, but for me the baitcasters seemed to be ready to go, right out of the box. The drag and brakes were pre-set, and needed very little adjusment. Go to the Home page and look for the equipment reviews. You will find all of our reviews of the Pinnacle gear.
  16. Glenn, Keri, and we Moderators have had the great opportunity of evaluating Pinnacle rods and reels for the last year or so. Not only has Pinnacle dug themselves out of their hole, they have erected a beacon for craftsmanship and quality. I'm sure that I speak for the rest of the BassResource staff when I highly recommend that anyone considering a new rod or baitcaster should take a good, hard, look at Pinnacle's new line of products. Yes, Pinnacle is a sponsor, but none of us will endorse any product unless we truly believe in it, and we believe that Pinnacle has reached the pinnacle (pun intended) when it comes to their baitcasters and rods.
  17. When I installed my Terrova, I deployed the motor, and then moved the mount back until the shaft cleared the gunwhale by about a quarter inch. That's where I anchored the mount. Works like a charm, but there is still a bit of overhang, say three inches.
  18. "g," I wonder why the spell checker didn't catch the faux pas?
  19. Folks. just a reminder that the annual BassResource Road Trip will be held at the Fin & Feather Resort on Toledo Bend from March 18th thru March 23rd. Everyone is invited, young (but 18 or older without parent or gaurdian) or old, male or female, beginner or expert, boater or non-boater. For more information see the 2015 Road Trip thread in the General Bass Fishing forum. The following is my latest post. OK guys, let's have a head count. If you are going to make the trip, PM me with the following: Screen Name Real Name Cell Phone Number Emergency contact person and phone number Will you be bringing your boat, and if so, do you have a seat available? Otherwise, do you need a seat? I will keep the information you provide confidential and will post on the forum only your screen name, the number of seats available, and the number of seats needed. In addition, if you are interested in hosting a bar-b-que, fish fry, or some other meal for our group then please let me know. As on previous Road Trips, we will ask that the attendees make a contribution to help offset your costs for the meal. I'll start it off. Road Warrior and I will host a hamburger cook-out on one of the evenings. When I have received all of your info I will post a list of attendees and a formal ajenda for the get-together. Remember, this is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of guys and gals who want to meet and fish with new friends and old ones.

  21. Happy New Year ya'll!
  22. If you have a complaint about any product you purchased, then please voice your complaints to the company/person from which you purchased it, not on these forums. Goodnight Irene.
  23. I've tried it. It bored me to tears.
  24. One of the advantages of caller ID is that you immediately know if it is a legitimate call or a come-on. When I see a number I don't recognize, I answer it immediately, and immediately hang-up without saying a word. The telemarketer simply moves on to try to rope-in the next sucker.
