I just started fishing again this year. I quickly learned to bring a scale and camera. One piece of advice, Wal-Mart and other big chains have waterproof disposable cameras that are perfect for both the boat and shore fishing. They're kinda pricey at $10 - $15 bucks a pop but, if ya catch a lunker, it's money well spent. They take around 27 pictures.
The only problem I have found with this is that, after waiting to take enough photos of your catches, they don't look nearly as big as they did when you caught them! LOL!
