  1. A paycheck I worked part time for Cabela's at the time, now I work full time for BBB
  2. Acres of fishing stuff, samples, discounts, demos, interact with pros (especially after they make a cut, as others have mentioned). Definitely worth the trip imo. I'll be there working the Big Bite booth I worked it for Cabela's a few years ago, excited to go back.
  3. I use a 7'9" XH Daiwa Steez SVF AGS. It is a dream to use, but you better REALLY be ready to spend
  4. I'm hard headed and I don't change techniques or colors very often. I should probably branch out more.
  5. One time I casted real hard and well into the cast I got a sudden and aggressive backlash (using braid). I was holding the rod with one hand at this point, and the whole rod popped straight out of my hands and into the water! Luckily I was quick enough to grab it before it sank too far, but my shirt and jacket were soaked to my elbows and it was freezing out. Another time a wasp got a little too close for comfort so I swatted at it with my hat, but I forgot that my Costas were on top so they went flying into the lake... I was kind of in shock and just stood there watching them sink, but my dad was in the bottom of the boat re-tying so he reached down and grabbed them. A couple of close calls that would have been really expensive mistakes!
  6. Big Bite has 3 packs of baits and a decal for $10 https://bigbitebaits.com/product/russ-lane-tester-kit/
  7. @Koz awhile back my friends and I held a small, bank-only "tournament" at Grand Lake in Oklahoma. We used our cars as "boats" to hop around to different bank accessible spots (mostly marinas) throughout the day, and we used the MLF app to keep a live scoreboard. It was fun!
  8. You can try. If you aren't getting bit try lighter line
  9. Make friends with people who have boats ?
  10. I'm moving to Eufaula Lake (AKA Walter F George Reservoir, Alabama/Georgia), so I'd like to learn it and catch a 5+ out of it (or several). I'd also like to go fishing with a pro.
  11. Holy smokes, @KDW96 went above and beyond!! Thanks for the stuff! I can respool my spinning reel and give the ole dropshot (Kvd half shell) and small swimbait a try this winter and I'll be prepared for flipping a menace/lizard later on with some fresh 832! I also really like the hard baits you sent me. Thanks again, you're too generous
  12. Big Bite Baits has 20% off gift cards https://bigbitebaits.com/?s=gift+card&post_type=product

  14. How picky are you with your fishing hats (or hats in general, I guess)? The only kind of hat I wear is a L/XL FlexFit, and they tend to have the mesh back. That's the only hat I've found that really fits well. "One size fits all" does not apply to me
  15. Move south!
  16. This is the one I have. It's nice because you can stack tackle boxes in both the top and bottom sections. I know a lot of bags just let you stack a few boxes and the top section is just a regular backpack. Look how much stuff you can get in there:
  17. great question, what are your thoughts on the fat red piranha?
  18. I'm in
  19. A follow-up to this post: This finally came true As of January 7th I will be the Graphic Designer for Big Bite Baits.
  20. I caught my first bass on a wacky rigged Zoom Centipede. Soft plastic fishing is definitely my favorite technique.
  21. Several Strike King plastics are on a great sale in some colors at Cabela's They also have some Strike King hard baits for cheap at this link
  22. One could argue that you shouldn't use the same rod for both topwaters and swimbaits. The 6'6" MH should work fine though, that's what I used to throw literally everything until I got more technique-specific rods.
  23. Kistler is having an amazing sale!! Everything is on sale, plus an extra 10% off in cart, plus use code VIP15 for another 15% off. The only catch is you have to order 2 or more rods to use the VIP15 code. It ends up being 30-50% off depending on the rods you choose.

I did some simplifying recently too, and my only craws are now Biffle Bugs, Rage Craws, and Rodents. How many craw style baits do ya really need?
