  1. Here you go
  2. Like he said, it's most likely because they could see you. The clearer the water, the longer the casts you should be making. However it also could have been that in combination with the fish just not biting that day for any number of reasons.
  3. There it is

For most bass fishing, according to my experience and research, silver mirror or green mirror are best. Silver would be better on a cloudy day and green for a more sunny day. So you have to weigh the options: is it better for them to be a little dark in cloudy conditions or to be not quite dark enough in extremely sunny conditions... I personally went with silver mirror, I like them so far but I haven't had them long enough to really say
  5. This... If you can get decent casting distance then go for it. Like Raul said, don't go way over the rating or you could break the rod, but going under isn't going to hurt anything except maybe casting distance.
  6. That means nothing. Every company is going to claim that they are better than the competition.
  7. I try to shoot for one fish per hour at the very least.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if you still caught 1 and 2 pounders on the 14"
  9. I really liked the way that gl2 cranking rod performed. Good action, good sensitivity, light weight. Guess I'm in the minority on this forum
  10. I've used a gl2 cranking rod and I've been quite happy with it. 7' medium moderate, for lipless and small cranks. It's super super limber, but that has allowed me to stick a couple decent fish without straightening those thin strike king hooks. Problem is, my buddy shut mine in the car door today! He's going to replace it, should I get him to buy me a replacement gl2 or an e6x? They both have the same exact action options... Wonder if anyone here has used both yet, as I still haven't thrown an e6x
  11. Huddleston Deluxe 8" and a Daiwa rig to go with it... Time to start throwing the big boys
  12. I'd probably use size 2 hooks, size 3 split rings. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
  13. Spro BBZ1 Shad would be a good option. I personally haven't used one, but it fits your criteria and seems to have a lot of good reviews. Savage Gear Shine Glide 5.25" would be another good option.
  14. I might be moving to Tulsa around this time next year. If so I will remember this post!

  16. Yeah forget the steel leader, spool up the whole reel with cable
  17. throwing the Gantarel trying to find that 8 pounder I know lives in this pond... this one was hungry

I just got some costas and compared them to my roommate's s11s... The difference is unbelievable! Obviously it should be for the price, but still, I was very impressed with how much better the costas are. They say wearing costas is like "seeing in HD," which sounds cheesy, but that's actually very accurate. I could also see deeper into the water. I'd say go try some on at least. They are expensive though.
  19. Was casting around buck brush with 10 pound mono. Why? Because I didn't know what I was doing! I accidentally casted my senko OVER a piece of brush, so I was reeling it back in for obvious reasons. Right when the senko entered the center of the brush my retrieve started to feel weird. I thought it was because my line was going over a stick or something but just in case I set the hook... Almost immediately that fish jumped and I said out loud "holy crap!" and my dad saw the size of it and ran for the net. Once again I need to mention that I didn't know what I was doing... I was cranking down as hard as I could, I guess in my head I thought that I could pull a double digit bass out of brush with 10 pound mono. Not 5 seconds into the fight my line broke. That monster fish wrapped me around the brush and broke off easily. Looking back, I should have been using braid first of all, but I should have also kept pressure and ran the troll motor up there to the brush and tried to land it that way instead of trying to horse that fish out of sticks with mono. Maybe next time I'll be more prepared. After I cooled down (I was ticked, I pitched a hissy fit for awhile) my dad and I talked about the size of that thing... We both knew it had to be over 10 pounds. This year my dad caught his first DD and afterwards he said "I still think that one you lost was significantly bigger than my 10 pounder."

None of those search results are a poll
  21. What do you prefer for fishing?
  22. At the very least once a year in your case
  23. I watched a video recently where Brandon Palaniuk talks about this. He catches bass in Florida on a 9" trout bait, hard to argue with that.

    Glide Baits

I'll be ordering a gantarel jr soon, thinking about getting a Kawashi Mikey too
  25. Just wanted to hear your opinions on which glide baits to get. I have a gantarel and a 5" SG shine glide. I'm looking at larger baits, but nothing huge (9"+) yet... the Deps slide swimmer 175, the Megabass i-slide 185, the R2S s-waver 168s... Thoughts? Please share your experiences.
