  1. If you're asking which one to keep, I think you should keep the Abu because it's longer.

    Spybait

Haven't tried it yet but I got an Arashi one recently...
  3. - just edit the original post - not sure on that one, you might have to ask a mod - use the "follow" button on the top right of the thread
  4. Casting
  5. What is the best high performance, 8-strand "superline" type braid in your opinion, and why?
  6. Get a decent reel, turn the brake way up, slowly decrease it as you get better. You'll also learn how to apply less and less pressure to the spool with your thumb while casting and before long you'll be bombing em
  7. I think I've decided on the 853 & the 894. Now 1 NRX & 1 IMX or 2 GLX...
  8. A Crappie Hudd Gill and a TW Baby Gill Matt Lures Gill are headed my way, thanks TW labor day sale I threw a stick jacket and a booyah frog in there to make it $50 for the free shipping. Now all I "need" for my swimbait box is a Deps Bullshooter & an S Waver 400
  9. I've thought about this but haven't tried it. Seems like it could work if a bigger bait was chasing a smaller one too
  10. So an 843 could throw slightly heavier jigs (rated up to 3/4 but some people don't recommend going as high as the rating it seems) than the 853? That's interesting because I would think XF would drag heavier stuff better than a Fast tip, but it seems like I'm wrong according to the ratings.
  11. @timsford thanks a lot, that's really helpful' @bigfruits which two would you choose?
  12. Wow, that's really unfortunate... I'm sorry It's too bad you didn't notice before they shipped so that you could have just cancelled the order! Hopefully you'll still catch some fish this weekend regardless.
  13. Berkeley Lightning Shock rod as he said. I personally would use 12lb P-Line CXX not braid. Line is personal preference a lot of times.
  14. I plan on combining my degree with my hobby by doing graphic design for a fishing company.
  15. What brand is this? Good looking lure
  16. A Candy Craw 5" Ocho is probably my favorite stick bait to throw. I hooked a "DD" on one a couple years ago and lost it, and that's been my favorite plastic ever since. (I say "DD" in quotes because I have no proof that it was 10+ since I didn't land it, but I know it was a giant either way.) I throw it as a senko though.
  17. I have a 6'6" MH for general use but I feel like it's a little too short for some situations (I'm 6'4" tall)... So I'm pretty set on a Loomis 853C (7"1' MH XF) for general use (tx rigs, soft jerkbaits, smaller jigs), but I have to decide between the new GLX and the NRX. Or is the 893 better for these techniques...? I'd also like a rod that I can use for carolina rigs (usually in 10-25 ft) and possibly heavier tx rigs, jigs, and small swimbaits as well. Would it be a little redundant to get an 874 (7'3" MH F) alongside an 853? Or I could get the 893 for a couple more inches in length, but I'm not sure if an XF tip is good for carolina rigs? Please share your thoughts. Also for this one I won't use it as often, so I might get an E6X or IMX. As far as reels go, I think I want an Aldebaran for the 853 so I can have the lightest set up possible since that will be my most used rod. I have an Aldebaran in 6.5:1 but I'll probably sell it and get a 7.4:1 for those applications. For the c-rig rod, I'll probably get a Lew's Tournament Lite G or something like that in a 7:1 ratio. I should point out, I already have a 7'9" XH rod for the real heavy stuff so that's covered. Also I'm going to continue to use my 6'6" MH for close up situations because it's more maneuverable.
  18. Maybe... It's usually the same silicone or rubber material that's used for jig skirts, so you could find the material easily, the trick would be threading it through the leg holes. You might be able to use a piece of line or something to thread the skirt through?
  19. Why aren't treble hooks your friend? I have not tried that yet, but I've considered doing it on deep divers to see if it'll snag less
  20. Yes, bass do eat other bass edit: check this out:
  21. A bunch of stuff just went on sale yesterday. All their rods (arachnid, tournament zx, etc), some baits, etc.
  22. Seems like I would direct tie it

    Poppers

Interesting technique. It's crazy how just changing the cadence of your popping can catch you more or less fish. Thanks for sharing, I'll try this next time I can't get them to hit a popper!
  24. And I thought my 6'6" was short! I'm 6'4" myself though... I want to try a 6' for docks now
  25. I had that happen to a brand new lews, adding oil like J said fixed it
