  1. Cool idea, I might try this when I'm at Toledo next
  2. That oughta last you at least one trip
  3. I agree with your point, but I have to say it's gotta be more than 5% tackle. You can't skip a 10xd I don't care who you are!
  4. Gantarel and Gantarel Jr are excellent baits
  5. WRB's post pretty much summed it up. There's not much more to say on this topic that hasn't already been covered here. Buy a new low profile reel, whichever you can afford, and I promise you'll like it. In my personal experience, the Daiwa Aird is an excellent sub-$100 reel, anything Lew's is great above $100, if you have more than $150 to spend look at Shimano & Daiwa...
  6. For $150 I'd get the Tatula instead of the Tatula XT. They have a 7'2" Heavy model that will do what you're wanting to do. However, from what I understand, you shouldn't get a Heavy for that application. You want the rod to load easily if you're skipping around docks and trees. If you're pitching around grass, that's when you need a heavy rod. Just something to consider. I'm no expert.
  7. Yeah I think molay was agreeing with you. It fell out of someone's truck and ended up on the side of the road. I'd check the eyes of that rod very closely, make sure all the rings are still in good shape. You don't want your line getting cut by them. And don't be surprised if that rod breaks sooner than you'd like, that kind of fall onto concrete has got to do some damage Anyways, congrats on the free combo!
  8. LOL, tempting offer! I'm glad you caught some fish!
  9. Today's Cabela's haul... 3 slab daddy buffet rigs 2 two-packs of reality shads 1 pack of gulp crawfish-type panfish lures, excitied to try these for crappie 1 pack of humdingers (blades you screw into a worm) 2 missile baits missile craws 4 cabelas craw bugs 1 cabelas 4.4" swimbaits 1 powerbait chigger quads 1 z man hard leg frogz Now for the part you won't believe... This cost me $14! Unbelievable clearance at the OKC store. This isn't my first or last haul from there...
  10. Yeah send me some too, you need proven field tests in order to get promoted
  11. That's really interesting, thanks for sharing. Here's a wiggle wart kinda similar to that color, but not quite... I'm gonna keep looking, because now you're got me looking for that color too edit: looks like the pic wont post, probably because it's a TW link. anyways the color is called coppernose craw or something
  12. Get what you can afford. If he can afford the GLX he sure as heck won't regret getting it over an E6X. If he can't afford it, stick with the E6X and he'll be happy with it, as it is a great rod.
  13. Because you hadn't asked before!
  14. I like where you're going with this! You should try to sell the dirt that is taken out to make the pond. From what I understand you can have the pond dug for next to nothing if you find the right buyer. I don't have any more details on how to do that, I'm just sharing what I've heard.
  15. I get that for big baits, but wasn't Ott using a small/regular sized swimbait? I could be wrong
  16. I weigh em if I suspect they're 4lbs or more, just because I wanna know. If I'm guessing it'll be to the nearest ½lb, I'm not gonna ballpark a fish and tell you "man it was probably 5.6 pounds!"
  17. What's the advantage of making it line thru rather than using a jig head or regular tx rig?
  18. That's a really good deal
  19. I see, this must have been several years ago then. In that case Kistler might as well be a whole different company nowadays.
  20. Jeez, what a steal! Definitely a local deal, my Cabela's doesn't have that deal or I'd have bought them out...
  21. So you broke them yourself or they broke on fish? I'm kinda surprised by your comment, since they are NFC blanks and Kistler claims less than 1% breakage...
  22. I found out some more info on these rods... the 705 IS the only black widow with IM instead of HM. the 705 is NOT the same taper that it was when tackle tour reviewed it, it is now stiffer and rated 8-20lb line, per TFO. the 2017 versions of the Black Widow rods will be 3" longer, so 7'3" now, but apparently the line ratings will be the same. In conclusion, I'll probably end up with a 704 model by the end of the year, I'm deciding whether to order the 7' now or the 7'3" later
  23. Cabela's has ploppers on sale at the OKC store - 130s $10.49 and 90s $8.49. Some good colors, they'll go fast. Idk if it's for all Cabelas stores but it's defnitely worth a try for those prices.
  24. lol...? Never seen anyone recommend a product on here? Come on...
