  1. Pretty much everything has been covered here, all I have to say is don't buy off-brand tungsten, it can cut your line
  2. You're a brave man
  3. Last Chance Tackle has 25% off storewide including sale items, so you can get GYB DT Hula Grubs for $3.75 a bag Coupon code 25DY22
  4. @fishballer06 I think it was organized well and with plenty of notice, I just don't think pinning the post brought it to people's attention, which is ironic because that's what pinning a post is supposed to do but I think it's a habit to scroll past them
  5. My dad and I like to say "when in doubt, check it out"
  6. Well 4 hours later I finally decided to set the hook but there was no fish there... Next time I'll set the hook faster
  7. I just felt a bump while my lure was falling - was that a bite or a stick? please respond ASAP I don't want to miss a fish!!!
  8. Just a note for next year: we should find some way to advertise this event better. My theory is that many people instinctively scroll past pinned posts because they are typically old threads for newcomers, and that's why a ton of people had no idea that we had this awesome event. I bet we could have had at least twice as many people participate if it was more widely known about.
  9. We already had it, it was called "Fishmas," it was pinned to the top of the general forum page, I was surprised only 18 people participated, I think if it was advertised better (I think people that visit often instinctively ignore pinned posts to an extent) we could have had several dozen people participate. Join us next year! @beaverretreiver what a haul! I got a ton of stuff awhile back from Cabela's for 1.88 a piece too, some stuff was 0.88! Love when they clear stuff out like that
  10. TW has Daiwa SV 103s for $199 plus 10% off gift cards makes it $180... Amazing deal, I just don't have the money or the need for one, I wish they were this price a couple months ago!
  11. @rippin-lips are you too good for our secret santa?? LOL just kidding, you got a nice haul on that one, and those bobbit worms are really cool @kickerfish1 are those "legit" Ricos or the blemished ones that TW just had on sale? I bought 3 of the blems and almost chose the exact same colors as you - john murray bass, blue/chartreuse, and lightning shad
  12. Very nice! I think I remember seeing a beat up RES that @Bluebasser86 posted on here before that would fit in well on this thread. Honestly I don't have any lures that are THAT torn up. I fish with plastics most of the time!
  13. Okay so I've now tried both the traditional method of tying feathered trebles and this quick shrink tube method. The shrink tube method is not very good in my opinion, but it is a very smart idea for a quick on the water solution. Which is exactly what Matt said in the video that I linked above. I've been having a lot of fun the last couple days in my free time messing with feathered trebles. I really like how I can tie my own stuff onto whatever hook and whatever size that I need without spending much money at all. It's also just fun to do. Here are my first attempts: This one has marabou and feathers and a touch of flash Here's a close up of a hook that I wrapped for my Slammer to cover up those massive hooks (2/0 owner) and possibly simulate blood. A little marabou mixed with feathers, no flash on these. Here are the 2/0s on the Slammer attached with #7 hyper wire split rings (it was a pain to get the rings onto the beefy hardware) Now I need to perfect my wrapping and clean it up a bit, but I'm happy with how it's turned out so far. Also I am tying the material pretty long at times, so I need to do some testing to make sure it isn't so long that it impedes the action of the lures.
  14. Where are you getting skitter pops for $6??
  15. They do look nice, hopefully the action can match a non-blem, I'll test it out asap
  16. Here's one of mine in Lightning Shad, with #4 triple grip trebles, the back one dressed by me (first time dressing a hook)
  17. WOW. A-Jay went above and beyond. I got home today and I just couldn't wait any longer so I opened them up and I was blown away by his generosity. A 6" bull shad that appears to be custom painted, 2 Matt lures gills, a red eye shad in a pattern I've never seen before, and a nice SK 1.5 in a great color. I can't thank you enough @A-Jay!
  18. @Bluebasser86 I hope you like them and get some use out of them. Merry Christmas!
  19. Could have something to do with the 8:1 gear ratio
  20. I've always heard that big jigs with subtle action trailers fished slow work well in winter. For example, a mop jig with a pork trailer or something like that (no rage craws or other high action baits)
  21. He says he caught it on a prototype Daiwa rod.. I wonder if that's the signature drop shot rod that he talked about wanting to design while I was chatting with him and some other Daiwa folks at the Classic in March.. I felt like an insider I bet Daiwa is gonna put it into production ASAP now that Cody has a potential WR that is sure to be all over every fishing site very soon

    Adding Paint

    In this case it's on a 9" bait that's around 3oz

    Adding Paint

Thanks! Do you think paint will affect action?
