  1. Keep in mind they also bought D&J Plastics, one of the largest soft plastics manufacturers in the US as part of this deal
  2. I'm looking forward to the larger spro popping frog ?
  3. Went smallie fishing for the first time last week. Spent a day and a half with my dad and Garrett Paquette on Lake St Clair and pretty much destroyed them. 12 hours total, around 70 smallmouth landed, 7 of which were over 4lbs! Sorry about the rotated pics, not sure how to fix on mobile. Frustrating
  4. I never have, but I went fishing with an elite series guy recently and he dabbed the loctite equivalent of super glue before pushing a swimbait all the way onto a jighead and it caught 30 smallmouth before needing to be replaced. I'm a believer now!!
  5. My dad seems to have a talent for breaking off on fish, but this one was a first for me. He was fighting a big bass back to the boat, it broke off, and he reeled in expecting to see a broken knot or lost leader but instead pulled up half of a hook... Brand new out of the package, not some old rusty thin wire junk or anything like that. Have you ever seen or even heard of this?
  6. Wow, great prices on these, and I LOVE having the weight on there. Should become the industry standard!
  7. 1. It could be that they're just not eating it all the way, have you tried a different color? 2. Could be the setup. I personally have a great hookup & landing ratio on a 7'-7'2" MH with straight 15lb CXX. I've landed many 5+lb bass with this setup, even ripping it out of grass. 3. Could be the hookset. I often set the hook too quick and take it away from them. The copoly helps with this, but it's also a technique thing. Basically, once you feel it stop chattering or feel an obvious bite, reel down and sweep set hard.
  8. I don't, but I mainly use a craw style bait that retrieves pretty straight. I could see line twist becoming an issue if you were to use a fluke or other style baits that tend to twirl a bit more. Curious what others on here have found!
  9. That is correct. Can you post a pic of the issue? I'm not quite following based on your description
  10. I'd like to add - underwater dock lights can work wonders. Down here dock owners typically use green. Position your boat so you can cast past the light and try to keep your distance. If you're on the dock rather than in a boat, be extremely quiet. In my experience these fish are very spooky. Most of the big fish will hang out at the dark edges of the lights rather than right in the middle of the bright spot.
  11. What part of the lake, we aren't having much luck shallow on the south end. Caught a few nice ones in 6-8ft this evening

    SHARKS!

WOW, lots of new info in here for me! Would love to see a pic and learn how to do this, sounds like a great method. I've been bottom fishing with 2ft of cable to 5ft of mono (weight slides on mono portion)

    SHARKS!

What times would that be? edit: after digging around a LOT (like, for days. I can't believe how hard this is to find out) I've heard that Oct-Nov and Feb-March are the best months? Does this sound about right? I'm really clueless about this and am trying to plan some trips!
  20. @wisconsin heat thanks, hadn't seen that thread!
  21. Report back on how they work, and show us pics! I haven't tried them on a football jig, but I have used them on a football-shaped swing head jig and caught fish before so it should definitely work (as long as the eye is vertical)
  22. This video (time stamped @ 1:30) shows you how to put them on The durability has been good overall, but I have bent out the stock snap a couple times after repeated 5lbers and once on a big striper, so I have been replacing the stock snap with a heavier one recently. If you're not around big bass and stripers the stock one works fine.
  23. Surprised no one has made a post about these things... The Queen Tackle Switch Blade is awesome! Has potential to be the next big thing in my opinion. You attach it to anything with a vertical eye, in my case I use them to make chatterbaits. You may or may not believe this, but they run just as well as a Jackhammer (when setup properly), with more customization, for 1/3rd the price. You get to choose blade size/color, head size/color (usually needs at least 3/8oz+ for small and 1/2+ for large), and hook size just by mixing and matching with whatever you like. I normally just use the small silver blade pictured, they're the same size at a jackhammer blade, but you can use the large blade for even more thump. I know this is starting to sound like a commercial but I'm just sharing my personal experience. I caught lots of 4+ pounders on these this year! I've heard of people using these on lipless crankbaits, swimbait heads, big shaky heads, or even spinnerbaits and Alabama rigs. Would be curious to see your inventions with em!
