I sure have gave a lot of money to Rapala, X rap jerkbaits, X rap prop, shadow rap, shad rap, floater, DT cranks , all proven fish catchers and there is no company that can compete with these baits in the price range. I've heard of lots of people breaking lips, I've only broke one and it was my own stupid fault.
The should have been new world record spot was caught on a roboworm rigged on a shaky head, I just talked to one of my buddies and he said his favorite way to catch spots is a zoom U-tail worm in green pumpkin with a chartreuse tail on a shaky head.
Sometimes when my dad and I troll for striped bass they will hit the red fins with a chartreuse belly but they won't touch the others but sometimes it's the other way around.
I have a few friends that fish spots and they say that spots like standard colors like pumpkin seed and watermelon with bright color tips like orange chartreuse and red.
I live on loop road which is 5-10 minutes from the town of Shenandoah. If I wanted to I could walk from my house and follow naked creek until it empties into the Shenandoah river.
Where are you located in Harrisonburg?
Where did you go? I live about 5 minutes from the town of Shenandoah.
My dad, my mom, my brother and I floated from island Ford to elkton and caught over 100 smallmouth yesterday. We caught 150 on the Saturday after the 4th of July
Are you using the small size or the large size? I have been catching 1 and 2 pounders on the small one. Make sure to use braid no matter what when fishing frog style baits. Sometimes I would get a blow up from a small fish and I would let him swim around with it until I felt him and then set the hook
We floated the Shenandoah river on the Saturday after the 4th of July and me , my dad and my brother caught 150 smallmouth. We caught them on Charlie brewer crappie grubs and small rat-L-traps. I caught my new PB smallie and I can say it is one of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen but sadly have no pictures. On the scale she went 3 pounds 15 ounces which is a giant in my area of the country(Virginia)
It depends on the lure. For poppers and frogs it's straight braid. But for prop baits and walking baits I'll tie a mono leader to avoid fouled up hooks and props.
Only pad crashers. Last year I bought 4 live targets , went to the Potomac, came home with 3 ruined frogs thanks to snakeheads, then two days later I went to lake Anna and bye bye froggie , Mr pickerel takes off with a $10 frog in his mouth while I'm standing saying what in the world just happened. So I will stick with booyahs.
