  1. Being that the BPS Crankin' Stick Micro guide is on sale now for $89.99, I may go with this rod.
  2. I see BPS rates all their cranking rods as a fast action. Is this an instance where fast action with BPS is similar to a moderate or medium fast in another brand?
  3. I may check into that. That isn't a bad price. I have the 7'6" BPS Cranking stick in MH. It is a little heaavy, but works good for baits around the 3/4 oz size.
  4. You aren't interested in selling it are you ;-)?
  5. Even that rod is only rated for 1.5 ounce lures. The 10xd is nearly 2 ounces (1.92).
  6. I see Denali makes a Heavy cranking rod in the Lithium series. Never used a Denali. Are they any good?
  7. I'm just curious... why don't you think I would like this rod ( MJC711HMF )?
  8. I have a MHM rod for medium to deeplay cranks. It just doesn't have the power to sling a big 10xd. I would also be open to a used rod.
  9. I'm looking for a rod to throw extra deep crankbaits like the manns 30 or 10xd. They just seem to heavy for my BPS cranking stick. I've heard good things about a Dobyns 806 for deep cranks, but that is out of my price range. I see St. Croix has a MOJO Heavy Action, medium fast. It says it is a flipping rod, but was this be any good for extra deep cranking? It is rates for up to 2 oz. I really want to stay less than $150 on this rod.
  10. I am looking to purchase a dedicated rod for squarebill fishing. I have not thrown a lot of squarebills in the past, but when I did, I was using my St. Croix Premier 6'6" MM rod. This is a great rod for shallow to medium cranks, butreally doesnt have enough backbone for heavy cover square bills. Depending on where you read, some people say you want a moderate action for all cranks, including square bills... others say a moderate fast to fast action for square bills. I am sure a lot of this is just personal preference. I am leaning more towards a MHM myself. The rod I am looking at is a 7'0" St. Croix Avid X MHM.. Before I make this purchase, I would like to get opinions from someone more experienced than me with square bills. I have a 6'6" Avid X MF for jerk baits. I must say, the Avid X is a sweet rod, which is why I am leaning towards another Avid X for squarebills. I also should mention that this squarebill rod will be pairs with a Shimano Curado 6.3:1.
