  1. I have done this with sucess, one lure if you want the sme profile and don't want to swim an actual jerkbait is a Rapala Original floater, same profile of most jerkbaits but is meant for straight cranking (mainly). I've caught plenty of fish straight cranking X Raps.
  2. The reel I got was used. It was dirty when I got it, cleaned it out free spools well and seems ok but the grind ish noise on the cast. It's not too bad of a grind. Just not sure how much life the reel has left
  3. This one was suppose to be 9/10. They still have them NIB? Not sure how to get to the reels for sale on here I'm kinda new. I've had the Curado I's, not a big fan of them. I'm gonna return this reel and probably keep searching for something like a Chronarch 200e7. Thanks Have you had this problem with the I's then, but it's easily fixable? Had I's do a similar thing before but it was a loud grinding at the end of the cast, this seems to be the spool wearing into the frame
  4. Yeah, and those Chronarchs are expensive if you want them NIB.
  5. Sounds good, I'd be interested on the gear ratio and right/left hand
  6. I have a Chronarch 200e6 and Iove it. Sadly are hard to find on eBay and some are $300 or used.
  7. Would you say return it? Don't know too many local reel places seems like a lot to go into this reel... I've heard the Citicas are better. Went through 2 Curado I's and experienced problems as well known others who had the same problems. I've heard the Citicas are better.
  8. Hey, I recently purchased a CurAdo 200e7 from eBay and it seems pretty old and heavly used, also makes an unusual noise which I believe (and hope) is just the spool hitting the main frame which isn't a big deal to me. It seems heavly used should I keep it and use it for frogging, flipping, casting smaller umbrella rigs or return to the buyer and get a Citica. Just not sure how long that old Curado has left, and the new CurAdo i's are horrible. Have heard good things of the Citica. (By the way the Curado 200e6 was $195.) is that Too much for an old dirty reel? cleaned her out she seems ok but the casting noise. Is it just me or Should I be worried how long this reel has to last Thanks!
  9. I usually use a snap, or tie direct. Anywhere there is pike or muskie I will throw a steel leader on. I usually use a snap on most hard baits.
  10. The wind and cold will push any fish deeper. I was out today and before the wind hit they were pushed shallow (5-2 feet) schooling and hitting floating jerkbaits but after the wind hit they moved deeper to about 10 - 15 ft and were hitting deeper diving jerkbaits. Wind will always push them back and jerkbaits will be the hot bait to throw.
  11. Once warmer weather comes around, a lot of shallower ponds (even deeper ponds and smaller lakes) are overcome by vegitation. Usually the fishing can become horrible, and most fish will either move into the deepest parts/clear parts or into the slop. Spinnerbaits are a great way to stay weedless while also attracting fish. The frog bite should be on if there is slop there. You could cast top waters over the weed edge (poppers, buzzbaits, walkers). You can also punch the mats. The fish could be moved deeper if they just spawned also. I would try other top waters them frogs past the weed edge, or find a new pond. It can be hard to adapt to these ponds but the fish have to eat sometime. Good luck!
