Having a fishing tournament with my wedding group this weekend (total of 6 people) going to a 40 acre private dam. We have three boats and will be in teams of two. My question is what do you think would make the best rules for the morning of fishing? Want to stay away from counting every fish because there is a lot of little ones in there.
Thanks
I've recently bought a few crankbaits and I am eager to get out and try them. I usually only fish with spinners and some type of plastic. I guess my question is how should I retrieve these baits?
I recently posted about a pond that was drying up. I used a seine net and we got about 10 fish out. There's not a ton of fish in there to begin with as it was filled by a different pond running over.
I need some tips on using seine net. The fish kept getting out
Just wondering how many people use swivels verses just tying your lure on?
I only bring one pole usually and I bank fish, so I usually use a swivel but seems like I have better luck when I don't use one
I fished a spinner bait and a weightless worm today to just see if there was fish still in there and I caught 3 really nice ones. I didn't have anything with me to transports the fish to another pond so I put them back it was so shallow you see their back sticking up for most of the pond. Definitely need to get them out of there before it's too late
We have a pond that usually gets filled with a run off from another pond. However this year we dammed up a different area so the water no longer reaches this dam.
Anyways this pond is now only about 2 feet deep and only about 30ft in area. It's really hard to catch bass in this shallow of water to move them to another dam. How would you fish a dam that is extremely shallow and has a mossy/muddy bottom
They were clear/white looking and they were in 2 feet of water like mainebass described them. I live in South Dakota and I'm certain they were not frog eggs too cold for that yet. There is some yellow perch in this dam but we haven't caught any yet this year
So I went out to a private stock dam that I have permission to fish. Caught all kinds of tiny 8 inch bass. Walking along the shore I could see a ton of fish eggs in the water. My question is what can this tell me? How would you fish a pond where you can see fish eggs?
The pond, where we want to stock the fish has nothing besides minnows. This pond until last year was not deep enough to hold fish. But last year Game and Fish came out and made the dam larger and deeper. There were also going to stock the dam for us but they backed out at the last minute
We have permission to fish private stock dam in South Dakota. We recently went out and caught over 40 fish that were all on the smaller side. The owner recently told me to throw the smaller ones on shore. Instead of doing this my brother in law had one of has dams recently built and is now significantly deeper and larger. I was thinking about moving some of these smaller fish into his new pond. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
