  1. Interested in Kayak fishing? Check out Indiana Kayak Anglers and Southern Indiana Kayak Anglers Klub. This month IKA will be fishing the White river in North East Indianapolis.
  2. Great thanks, heading up tomorrow night to prefish Friday.
  3. Any of you Northern guys familiar with Palistine Lake up by Warsaw? They just changed the location of my kayak tournament this Saturday due to all the rain so now I'm scrambling to be prepared. Any information would be appreciated .
  4. Welcome from and hour south of Indy!
  5. Going for either LM or SM, my previous trip I only caught small mouth. I just checked Rivercast and one of the rivers by Friday will be down to 7000 CFS at 6ft deep and the other river is currently about 125 CFS at 3 ft deep.
  6. I have only ever fished the river once but I have a couple more times coming up in July. I did decent for my first time throwing a Ned Rig TRD in PB&J. Want to be more than a one trick pony. What is your go to bait for Bass river fishing?
  7. I'm from the same area as you and I can tell you that the biggest kayak series in the State allows both howeve if you look at the results and the kayak they use of the two events this year with 71 and 54 anglers respectively on big waters a paddler has one both events and the last event the top 3 were all paddlers. Pedalling doesn't make up for skill and preparation.
  8. I fish kayak tournaments (currently three different series) and I can tell you that never once have I heard anyone say anything about someone showing up in an inexpensive kayak. We've all been there. I started out fishing from a sub $200 kayak from Menards. I caught fish and that is what mattered. A lot of people run depth finders but others don't. One of the best kayak fisherman I know does fish with a depth finder and is consistently near the top of the standings.
  9. It was a Texas rigged Yum Dinger Green Pumpkin with a Chartruese tip.
  10. I was planning to go last weekend but plans had to change. Going to get down there soon. The guys that did go didn't do that great. Caught an ok number but no real size.
  11. What is the difference between the shallow waters and the deep waters?
  12. I haven't had a good frog bite all year.
  13. All good stuff, I'm only 2 hours away so I am clear on the stage they are in. Just wasn't familiar with this particular lake.
  14. I'm 2 hours Northeast of the campground.
  15. Thinking about driving down to Patoka this weekend for bass. Can anyone tell me anything about that lake never been there before?
  16. That is my stake out pole. Shallow water anchor. I use that with an anchor trolley to either anchor in the front or the back. Went Smallie fishing on the kayak for the first time. First time fishing on a river. Took me a little bit to figure it out but then I was smacking them. No trophys bu everyone of them was healthy and fat.
  17. I love my WS Radar 135. I'm sure you will enjoy.
  18. I fish with the groove on the bottom which allows me to keep the hook point and not have it popping out and getting snagged when it gets a little hung up.
  19. I went with Garmin 73 SV and I thinks 7inch is a really good size for a kayak.
  20. I have a kayak fishing tournament which has three lake options and one was just changed. Hence the reason for my question. Lake #1 is smaller and has a lot of smaller fish lots of them. I have fished this one. Lake #2 I have caught larger fish than #1 but there aren't as many fish. I obviously have not fished this one. Lake #3 was the one that was changed to do to weather concerns. I have never fished this exact spot it is a Creek channel feeding a large lake. This one has the potential to have the largest fish but I'm unsure on the bite. So would you go with what you know or take a risk on the option that could be the most promising?
  21. Thanks, you could tell by the results it was a tough day. The wind shifted and came up strong and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. only 41 caught any fish, only 26 caught a limit. I lost my biggest one right at the kayak and also lost my identifier and had to paddle for an hour to get a new one. Considering this was my first tournament I guess I can't be to disappointed. I will be at Morse and hope to see you there.
  22. Congrats on the baby! Yes I'm going for the IKA event. I plan on going up the first weekend of April to prefish the waters and have a better idea where to start. Then I'll be up there the day before to hone in on the key spots.
  23. Going to be up at Lake James for the first time in mid April and looking for bass. From my research it looks like a clear water lake. Also being in the far northern section of the state I will not be expecting the water to be to warm. Can any one offer it good pointers for these waters? James is connected to some other waters, are they different or all pretty much the same? Any lures they really crack on? I'm not looking to steal anyone's spot but any guidance on areas to look would be very much appreciated.
  24. These are great responses and I appreciate you taking the time. Next time I go out, I will try something a little different.
  25. Thanks for the input.
