Its not that off the wall but Chart Baitfish specifically is by far my best producing RES and i've never seen anyone mention it

I think I saw they might've changed how theyre made but the Rick Clunn baits are very similar looking and altough I was hesitant at first they do work quite well, only the full size though the smaller ones don't compete that well for me compared to the jr megabass or 65 luckycraft.

Just need small jig heads. Anymore a 3.8 feels like a giant swimbait, at least where I am with threadfin being the largest baitfish species and lots of little smelts, shiners, and silversides the small baits get a lot of action.

In a little pond from shore its even easier to fish the bottom and 1/4oz is more than enough weight because your positioning is always fixed and you're always fishing uphill. Fishing ponds from shore I use a lot of 1/4oz and 5/16oz jigs. However there are times when casting distances is important and I'll use up to a 1/2oz jig just so I can get it out there. Sometimes a heavier jig is nicer for pitching as well.

I want to get a rod for throwing Megabass D-X 300, Deep Six, River2Sea DD Crank, DD22, 5xd/6xd, etc. basically 1/2-1oz cranks that dive 10-20ft. I've been looking at the Phenix X-13 and Dobyns Champion 765, and G-loomis IMX 906. I want a rod that has a decent enough rear-grip length for making casts and ideally something around $200 but for the right rod I guess I'm not that price concerned.

Idk but have never seen it come up in freshwater but for Saltwater there's bait hooks that have a twist and are offset where the point/barb are not inine with the shank of the hook, supposedly it makes the hooks "stickier" so easier to get a hookset. I've never felt like it does much but that's probably what they are going for.

The creeks I get mine from once you don't see them walking around ever the trap shuts down. When they're active you can get as much as you want from an overnight soak.

They definitely burrow. Been on river trips to Colorado and been by plenty of areas where they spook out of the water and into their hole in the side of the bank.

East county bait and tackle is a must, they got some decent swimbaits too. Hook'd would be worth stopping in but I havent been in a while.

I've always used straight fluoro on my dropshot and don't have any problems with it.

Other than when a treble gets destroyed in the line of duty only time I've replaced hooks was on some SK Red eye shad and went to the Mustad KVD hooks right off the bat. Honestly didn't notice that much of a difference so just stay stock now.

They're definitely a bit different imo so you'll probably have a preference. Invix is definitely more supple and FC Sniper a bit stiffer. I only use them for light line 5lb and 6lb. I've been preferring the little extra stiffness to FC but they're both great imo and caught a lot of fishing using both.

There's so many points, hump, flats, little pockets/coves and just good looking structure to fish. Typically i'd first look at the main lake points and humps things closer to the center river channel that'd be a likely summer spot. From there I'd work towards the points/humps that extend from shore especially ones that are leading into a flat or cove. Bait plays a big role at most lakes this time of year too so keep an eye out for that.

Somewhere in the 45ft zip code fishing points/humps in SoCal. Mostly drop shot and jigs for me at that depth.

The most unsafe I've ever felt in freshwater was going 70mph in a 21' lol.

The lake I like going to the most, diamond valley lake, is a very deep lake. I'd call 30ft+ deep but I also routinely fish in 30-50ft of water especially in the summer and winter. The structure I'm fishing that deep is rocky humps or points usually with jigs and drop shot but there's a fair amount of bottom contact baits that are successful. Sometimes you can get them swimming a little underpin over it but usually bottom contact for me. Forgot to talk about approach. For me fishing that deep I'm almost always positioned on the shallow side of the point and working uphill, almost always uphill. The points are often not the classic tapering points but will have a little saddle before rising up with a hump/knob on the end. I like to have the boat in the saddle firing out over the end of the point. Sometimes I'll sit right on top of the hump, let's me fire casts off the side of it and work uphill and also lets me fish the drop shot vertically if thats the way they're moving.
