  1. They take bass from upper Otay and Barrett and plant them in lakes. The fingerlings don't have to come CA, there are a few private lakes around that get them from out of state when they do plants.
  2. I don't know what it is but a couple lakes around me have what appears to be this years fingerlings and last years 8"-10" fish absolutely stacked along the shoreline all over the lake. They're fun aggressive fish but no size to em.
  3. Mine break if i'm not careful or even if I am careful trying to get one of those baits off the hook. I have the same issues as OCdockskipper as well, it's a love hate thing. I haven't had any break outside of messing with the plastic that always gets stuck on the keeper.
  4. Green Pumpkin reins bubbling shaker, really hard to fish anything else. Used to use a lot of green weenie, blue crawler, aarons magic, oxblood with Robo.
  5. Texas rigged jig are you talking about a normal trig with a punch skirt or a jig with an ewg hook?
  6. If you don't weigh it on a scale it weighs whatever you want it to weigh
  7. Perris is nice. There is really good structure off the dam side but towards the launch ramp of the island. 12-16ft with brush piles drops down to 25-30ft. The tires and brush piles on the south shore can be really good in october with some of the weeds dying back. Back by the road bed in the corner by the water intake can be really good too. Perris is probably easier than DVL as far as the boating aspect goes. Water level is pretty low which imo makes the lake a lot easier to fish.
  8. No longer need to do the Ticketmaster stuff so I'll probably head there soon, looks like fun fishing albeit tougher now
  9. DVL is fishing really tough so don't feel bad about your counts. Even DVL locals that fish there a ton are struggling mightily to catch 12"+ fish. Points and coves/pockets with more isolated cover would be where I'd target(which is hard to come by). The fish have really scattered since the water has come up so much. DVL also has a good thermocline, I think right now it's around ~30ft so I wouldn't fish too deep. I've done a lot of fishing with the rental boats without trolling motors. When it's calm I like to just slowly drift. A slow drift is great for working plastics on the bottom. The drift takes care of moving the bait and then I just shake or pop it over stuff. Once the wind gets going 2 anchors are gonna be your friend. A double anchor will keep you from spinning and let you stay very still while fishing the deeper water.
  10. Drop shot, jerkbait, underspin and a jig are a good start.
  11. It's probaby a 1/0 or 2/0 but if there is a tackle shop near by that sells them I'd take that hook it and match it up to find the right size
  12. If i've been catching them on a crank and pitched plastic I'm going to continue that. I'd take note of how it happened. Did I get em on my crank working submerged weed edges? Did i get my plastic fish pitching into pockets? Did the pockets have rock on the bottom? Did I catch fish equally in all areas seemingly at random?
  13. You're gonna have to find a guide that has tickets. Tickets are only sold via Ticketmaster for the first while, kind of a bummer as far as guiding goes. Art Hill, Todd Kline, and Tom Lowery are all great guides.
  14. I've used it and caught a fishy on it with the 1/8oz jig. I like how the skirt flares out real nice on the pause when it's on bottom with the TRD standing tall. It's a nice addition to the ned rig to give a little more varience. adding a skirt to the normal shroomz is a pain so glad they came out with the jig.
  15. I'd fish in Newport harbor, Huntington and Los Al before fishing the jetties. Swimbaits and grubs on 1/4oz and 3/8oz leadheads are a good start. Newport is easiest to access but Los Al/Huntington seem to produce bigger fish.
  16. Woah way to blow up my spots!! Public park lakes are definitely way overlooked and more often than not are diamondss in the rough.
  17. 2 in the photo and you lost 3? My condolences. I think i might've ended myself if I cut the mainline instead of the tag and watched that guy sink out. You're a stronger man than I am.
  18. I love my Humminbird. The normal down imaging is great for marking fish and bottom composition. The structure scan is great for identifying rocks and grass and how it's laying. The side scan just gives me lots more info, if I'm seeing grass under the boat I can click over and see if it's just a patch or part of a bigger weed bed. If you can spring for it having a unit that can give you more info will always be a benefit imo. All the brands have some really sweet stuff. If you have a minn Kota or a motorguide it could be nice to match your unit to hummingbird or lowrance to have even more cool stuff you can do.
  19. Tried the Zman Finesse Shroomz jig for the first time and it worked out like I thought it might
  20. Don't think it was first cast but was within the first 5 minutes of using it I got one on a Jackall Gantarel. Probably 8+ hours more of throwing it and not even a follower.
  21. I really like the Gamakatsu Drop shot/Split shot hooks. I usually use a size 1.
  22. I lost close to 20 jigs and jigheads fishing at night along a big chunk rock wall. Some of that is the rocks and some of that is fishing at night. If I cast and didnt hear a splash "awe crap not another one"
  23. The IGFA kinda sucks. I don't really respect their records that much, the states seem to do a better job at keeping it together. It's a giant hassle to get something IGFA accepted and imo they count things that shouldn't be counted and discount things that should be counted. For all-tackle records it really should be extremely simple.
  24. IMO If you can cast into their cast then you're too close and if you pull in front of someone working the bank it should be by at least 50yds. The Delta is a big enough place that you should never be forced to fish right next to someone.
  25. If I want it up in the water or just a bigger profile I'd keep it in the family with the rage tail swimmer. For a slimmer profile like a swim n shad for deeper water so it stays down better. I like appendage/grubs sometimes too like the twin tail menace or grub.
